What is the average age of your grandparents at the time of the birth of their last child?

For me, it is 34 years. My paternal grandfather was 48 and my paternal grandmother was 37 when their last child was born. My maternal grandfather was 26 and my maternal grandmother were 25 when they had their last child. Both of my parents were actually the youngest of their siblings.

Nearly everyone in my family had children very late in life, even back in times when this was far more unusual. I often forget this fact, and then find myself startled by how short other families' "generations" always seem to be!

Both my grandmothers received little surprise packages when they thought they were past it. My maternal grandmother had my mother, her youngest child, at age 40 years, 9 months. My paternal grandmother had my youngest aunt, her youngest, at age 39 years, 3 months. (My parents were 48 & 37 when my younger sister was born.)

My maternal grandmother was 31 and my maternal grandfather was 35 when their youngest of three (my mother) was born. My paternal grandfather was 27 and my paternal grandmother was 25 when their younger son (my father) was born. I’d say just shy of thirty years.

My paternal grandparents were quite a bit older than my maternal grandparents when they married: 39 & 30 (had 5 children) vs. 21 & 19 (had 6 children). The average age for last child is 39.5

My Paternal Grandparents were 23 and 20 when their last child, my Dad, was born. My Paternal Grandma was only able to have 2 children because of medical issues. On my Maternal side, my Grandparents were 34 and 29 when their last child, my youngest Aunt, was born. So, the average age of all 4 of my Grandparents is 26.5 years old.

32.75 yrs. Mum was the youngest in her family and her parents were older than my dad’s were. My mum’s parents were as old when they had their first (GM- 31, GF- 34) as to how old my dad’s when they had their last (GM - 31 [when she had my dad’s half sister]).

Paternal grandparents were 44 & 41 when their last was born (she wasn’t planned 😅); maternal grandparents were 34 & 31 when their last was born (my mom). So their average ages would be 37.5 years

If you put all four grandparents together, the average is 37 years, but there is a big difference between the paternal average (almost 45) and maternal average (29). My paternal grandparents probably thought they had finished their family almost 10 years before when they were "surprised" with another child....when I was young, such babies were called "afterthought babies."
