I have a pretty big life update that I’ve been waiting to share with you all and now feels like the right time. To put it concisely, I’ve accepted a full-time job within the video game industry! I won’t say where just yet, but suffice it to say that it’s an exciting opportunity for me—one that I’ve been aspiring to for a long time. I’m about a month into my new position and loving it.
Of course, having a full-time job means creating content here on YouTube will no longer be my primary focus. YouTube has changed a lot as a platform since I started my career. I’ve always been able to ride out these changes in the past, but I haven’t been so lucky in the last year or so. Many other content creators and I are seeing remarkable decreases in ad revenue, and the algorithm’s increasing demand for daily uploads is impacting those of us who produce well-edited, long-form content. The type of content I make takes time, energy, and creativity. It’s been disheartening to put all that work in and effectively be “punished” by the algorithm for not putting it out fast enough.
I still love creating videos, and I’m excited to be able to do that freely now – without the added pressure of having to make a living in the process. This is by no means the end of my channel. Uploads may not happen as regularly right now, but there’s still a lot of content I want to produce and plenty of games coming down the pipe that I hope to cover. I might even do some surprise streams!
It’s been a wild ride to build this channel with all of you over the last decade. Some of you have been here from the start, and some of you have just joined our ranks, but all of you have played an enormous part in helping make this channel such a success. I cannot thank you enough. None of this could have happened without all of you.
Big transitions like this are scary, but I feel lucky to have a community that pushes me to be my best and succeed at whatever comes my way. I hope you all will stick around and keep tuning in when I can create new things for you – and I hope you’ll rest a little easier knowing that from here on out, every video going up on my channel comes straight from my passionate little melon heart. I can’t wait to see what comes out of my head when I don’t have to worry so much about being demonetized. 👀
Anyway, that’s all I have to share for now! Things might be quiet while I finish settling into this new mode of being, but I’ll still pop into Discord and other social media whenever I can. Keep it surreal out there for me, everyone. I’ll see you soon!
