Solo Second Half

Over 500,000 views – THANK YOU! 🙌❤️ WE are building a REAL community.

I had no idea when I filmed this video in the cold Pine Barrens that it would reach so many people.

This video—and many others on this channel—touch on strong, uncomfortable human truths.
But your response has shown me something beautiful

We are far more connected than we are divided.
Our stories, struggles, regrets, and resilience… they echo in each other.

This channel may be called Solo Second Half, but this community proves we’re not really alone as we go through life. Not here.

Your video about the loss of your mum was so helpful to me. I'm still grieving and you helped me feel seen. I've just lost my mother in law too. I have been watching you ever since even though I'm not yet 50. I love your refreshing honesty.

People feel alone, and you remind them that feeling isn't unique to their life experiences. We all go through these same things just at different times.

I'm not even in your target demographic but I watch because brutal honesty is in very short supply these days. Hope your channel continues to thrive.

Congratulations! Your platform is unique I think in that it is very authentic and addresses what is encountered in the average person’s life . Keep talking about these same topics and concerns and also I think it would be great to discuss concerns that many solo women have around their finances and ability to retire and maintain a home . I’m divorced after a 36 year marriage and I know I have many fears around these issues. Thanks and keep up the good work!

Congrats! Pam on your channel growing! That's great! As you know, growing numbers of seniors are alone with no partner, no real friends, and little to no family for various reasons. And while there's nothing at all wrong with being single & independent, the truth is it can be a little unsettling not having at least one solid friend in your life who you know you can trust and confide in and enjoy reciprocal friendship. What I've found is that when you're over 60, 65, and looking to make new friends it's really, really difficult to find others in your demographic who are also looking to make new friends. Yes, there are several ways you can connect with seniors ... community activities, senior center, church, etc. but just because they're seniors doesn't mean they don't have friends and family and the truth is, a lot of seniors don't care for crowds and group gatherings, and that understandable. In my experience since being widowed at 54 (15 years ago) and starting from scratch after "cleaning house" of negative influences, is that many seniors DO have large families and friends they've had for decades and they're not in the market for cultivating new friendships OR they're dealing with health, money, family issues and making new friends is not on their list of priorities. But for those of us who didn't have a large family, didn't have kids or are estranged from them, and have lost touch with friends over the decades or got rid of the bad rubbish, where do we find others like ourselves? For me, it hasn't happened. So, this may be a far-fetched idea, but I wonder if there's a chance you might be able to use your voice and channel to help connect seniors around the country, in their specific regions ... not sure how you'd do it, might not even be possible, but thought I'd suggest this because I just know there are lots of us out here wanting a "real life" friend and not knowing how to find them. Thanks!

A topic that came to mind that could relate to seniors or younger people ,,,, If it helps or is it worth the money to have a lawyer review a new apartment lease before signing off and moving. I guess that someone could seem more vulnerable if they are alone. Great channel .... the comments are interesting!

Don’t be too worried about scaring the younger generations. Telling the truth only helps them (us). It is very educational even if it makes people a lil uncomfortable.
