Thinking of everyone who is in Los Angeles right now. I’m feeling very powerless watching all of this on social media, but if you are also able to donate, here is a link to the Los Angeles fire department relief fund. supportlafd.org/

I'm from Cali. I have family who are actually near the area where the fires are happening. They haven't been evacuated yet. It is very heartbreaking watching and feeling helpless. You sharing that link helped more than you know.

Here’s some advise from and Australian in a bushfire prone area: make sure you are packed with everything you need (including food and water for several days) and ready to leave at a moments notice. Even if the evacuation order is not mandatory, leave as soon as you are able to. Make sure you have multiple planned escaped routes just in case one becomes blocked. Things can change very quickly and people die thinking they have time to get out when they don’t. ❤️ Sending you all lots of luck and love❤️

I’m from California and my family lost our house to the Eaton fire. We were able to evacuate with our pets and a few necessities, but the majority or our belongings have been destroyed. Thank you for caring. Love you and your channel charlotte.

Thanks Charlotte! I evacuated yesterday, and so far, my home is safe. But 3 colleagues lost their homes and many more evacuated. All my family is in your neck of the woods, Toronto, and I've kept them posted. Thanks to Canada for loaning us those super scooper planes - they really help!

I’m here in SC preparing for ice and snow wishing we could give it to the people of California to put the fire out. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. ❤️

My 6 year old son was watching the news this morning and my 6 year old asked my dad "why don't they get a plane, get a big bag, put water in the ocean in it and then dump it over the fire?" I am so hopeful for my son's future. He's compassionate, sweet and helpful♥️

Had to evacuate today after having lost power yesterday. I’ve lived in Cali my whole life and this is the scariest fire I’ve experienced. Thoughts and prayers for my fellow LA-ians!

We are lucky that you guys are still willing to help us. Canada helped thousands of Americans on 9/11, too. Thank you!

Thank you. As a Californian who lost my home to the Tubbs fire back in 2017, and has spent four years living in SoCal after those fires, it’s horrifying to see the same thing happening in LA that happened that night. The bay area’s Diablo winds and LA’s Santa Ana winds are a force of nature that none of us know how to outsmart. The devastation happening is horrifying. People are dying. Animals are dying. State Farm cut thousands of policies just before the fires started. The LAFD had its funding cut when they can’t function with the funding they have as it is. We don’t have enough fire crews out here and not enough help is coming in. The communication from higher ups is shoddy at best. It’s a literal nightmare. And to make matters worse there are way too many people flooding social media with posts and comments saying “it’s LA. These are uber wealthy celebs who can just escape to one of their five other houses and then rebuild.” The VAST majority of people losing their homes are everyday people. It is a fraction of a fraction of a FRACTION of a minority that are celebs losing their homes. Even for the celebs, these are still people who are losing their HOMES. Not houses. Homes. Paris Hilton had to watch her Malibu beach house burn on national television. Sure it was just one of the houses she owned, but if you go and read what she’s posted, it wasn’t just some property that sits vacant except for a few days when she goes and hangs out on the beach. This was a home where spent a lot of time, and where she created core memories were with her son and where she had planned to create memories with her daughter. She adored that house. Yes she can afford the financial hit but she’s also still a mother with a family who just watched countless memories burn to the ground, and unlike the rest of us she had to watch those memories burn to the ground ON TELEVISION. This is a huge trauma to her as well. I want everyone to keep that in mind. These fires don’t care how much money you have or how famous you are. They are destroying anything and everything in their path, all the way down to the ocean💔

I'm near Seattle, my local fire department is sending firefighters to help LAFD. They should be there within 2 days. Less if they take turns driving and don't stop for the night.

@Wholeheartedly1970

I only had smoke damage from an apartment fire in ‘08. Building was condemned. We were evacuated from where we live now rurally, a couple of years ago due to a forest fire. Trauma is trauma. It’s doesn’t discriminate. My thoughts and prayers go out to every living thing being lost and surviving, in these fires. Thank you Charlotte.

@Nani_Gurl

Also from LA here myself! It’s been pretty scary. There’s a lot of ash in the sky and it gets in our eyes right now. I work for a small arts/culture nonprofit that just reopened in person last year after struggling to climb back up since COVID and these fires are really holding us back from hosting our yearly operating fundraiser event (it’s usually hosted every Nov/December but had to be pushed to early this year since we didn’t meet funding goals sooner) Many of my other friends in the small nonprofit world are worried and in a similar situation in a shortage of funding or now need to halt community work because their coworkers need to evacuate to take care of themselves(which is what we expect them to do no less!). Given that many small nonprofits are often funded heavily by community donations (and run by LA staff who are evacuating while fire disaster insurance coverages are canceling DESPITE how long they lived there -this is what I been hearing! Someone pls verify ) this is setting chains of reactions that hurts the locals livelihoods on all fronts to the point of potential job losses ,home losses without coverage, animals wandering off scared , unhoused lost dogs and physical closures of many community programming spaces that might be doing what they can to help right now or also vacating for safety now. If things don’t get better, this may mean the closures of many small community spaces/teenage and youth after school programs/galleries/art community spaces/ small budget museums/ etc. On the upside, it’s been really uplifting seeing those well-funded nonprofits who have enough staff to help with feeding first responders from fire department, LA residents seeking shelter, giving supplies to burn victims, sheltering animals (dogs,horses, cats), helping single moms, and more! It’s been refreshing to see so many nonprofits in action! If you are reading this comment looking for ways to get involved I encourage you to do a few of the following that I think will be very helpful as an LA native: -See what nonprofits and/or businesses are involved in giving out supplies to single moms, kids, and if they are accepting packages send diapers and wipes!! There is a Google Doc link is by Mutual Aid LA Network with many resources and spaces offering help at this time for those affected. Look on their IG bio @mutualaidla -Just like Charlotte said, give to the LA Fire Department Foundation! I heard they were severely underfunded this year with a large budget -Give to dog and animal shelters/nonprofits who are saving dogs /wild life from the fires -Give to small art spaces who are undergoing trouble at this time from the fire who will need help keeping up with rent or paying bills , paying their fee staff, and to continue helping the community during this time. I’ll drop a few below but I’d suggest commenting other ways or nonprofits to help below this comment! Art + Practice (provides art and professional development programming for foster-care children) Compton Art + History Museum (provides free internships to black and brown youth interested in educational programming and photography/archival/media) Compton Girls Club (programming for young girls to engage in self-care, professional skill building and exploring LA and beyond for a well-rounded life) LA Art Core ( art space dedicated to showcasing local emerging LA contemporary artists located in a historical church in Little Tokyo) Rogue Artists (immersive theater in West Hollywood that showcases local puppet shows in LA) Architecture + Design Museum La Brea (Museum dedicated to showcasing local emerging student architects/designers as well as connect them to professionals in the field) While this is not everything I think I started a good thread here is anyone wishes to join and share ways , and spaces to help ! Even as a native, I am covering a mere droplet of everything that is happening. There is so much help that can be done so I hope this sparks some interest to help LA at this time! Hoping any LA girlies can come share how this has affected them too. Stay safe out there! 🫶

Ive been watching from Chicago and it is beyond devastating. My heart breaks for everyone who lost their homes and to all the wildlife who have even less resources than we do.

Thank you Charlotte! I live in Arizona now, but I'm from Los Angeles. So many friends and family in harms way, evacuating their families, their pets, livestock; it's almost too much to comprehend. Thank you for sharing this link!

Hi Charlotte thank you for this message my family and i just got a false alarm evacuation alert earlier today and it scared me to my core. We are now planning if push comes to shove as if that alert was real. Everyone who’s experiencing this disaster right now is in my prayers and i hope you and your loved ones stay safe.

Omgoodness Charlotte for years you've made me laugh 😆 But for the first time you made me 😫 cry!!! After the fires in Hawaii and the celebrity debacle I didn't know where to donate this time. As I want it to actually go to those in need. Thank you for posting this link! It's very very kind of you. I know you're a very sensitive human being, I also know your not from here. You stand out from many others that would just look on, considering it sad but not their problem. Thank you so much for your live abs caring for your fellow humans. As My father was a forest firefighter, and I've lost a few friends that were forest firefighters as well, its dear to my heart to help those that are devastated by such disasters, and also keeping safe the volunteers that risk their lives. Please keep all that in the thick of it in your thoughts 💭(or prayers 🙏whatever suits you, )I know that Washington and Oregon have sent as many as possible. Send a prayer they all make it home when this is finally under control. Much love ~ ♡ BellaGurl☠Skull

my boyfriend's house is only 1k feet from where the Eaton fire started, and he quite literally saw when it ignited. i was on the phone with him pleading with his family to evacuate but they wouldn't listen. i was screaming into the phone. they got out in time, but almost all of his hometown is now razed. thank you for bringing attention to this
