Here are 10 reasons why a bucket is the best toolbox;

1- It only costs 5$ (can even get a free one on the jobsite if you're lucky!)
2- You can use it as a makeshift seat to eat lunch!
3- If you need a recipient, you can use your new toolbox!
4- It's good for carrying stuff (other than your tools)!
5- You can use it as a step ladder in a pinch (not OSHA approved!)!
6- You can use it as a small workbench (cut two V grooves to hold pipe while cutting)!
7- Easily replaceable (can be found at almost any store)!
8- You can attach a special made tool pouch on the outside to carry more tools!
9- They are easier to pick up than normal toolboxes because they are high off the ground.
10- They can be stacked with other buckets for whatever reason!

Plus, if you get diarrhea for being the cool guy that brings sushi for lunch, you can use the bucket as emergency toilet. πŸ˜–

They have 5 gallon bucket dollies too. Used usually for car washing. So your fancy new tool carrier can have wheels too!

There are zero reasons. I did that for the first 5 years in the trade and then grew out of it. I still carry a bucket with me on my cart, but bought a proper Canadian made leather tool tote that will last me the rest of my career to haul my tools in.

They start out at 35 lbs and after awhile my shoulder needs surgery because the crap in the middle outweighs my car. I switched to a backpack that only has room in it for my tools, it stays the same weight and is distributed on both shoulders in lieu of one arm.

11. You can place a special-made toilet seat on top, too, which I've bought/used for dispersed camping.

I tried it. It's the worst toolbox. Too much strain on the hand and shoulder to carry. I always have to empty the bucket to reach a tool that is now at the bottom. The best toolbox I've found is a backpack that has a place for everything.
