IMHO, the wafers are the way to go these days. They are easy to install, are modest with power, are available in different color temps (sometimes sewichable) and they don't interfere with insulation depth for better thermal performance.

The ones we bought are considered can less LEDs. I like that the light color can be adjusted.

Part time residential sparky we haven’t installed a can in years only wafers now unless matching old work. In new builds we use a frame kit so the sheetrockers can cut the koles and everything is locked in

I've just added the LEDs to existing cans, but I have a box of wafer panels sitting here that I'm going to install fresh into my office ceiling. I only have one central light there that I have converted to a fan, but I want more light spread throughout the room. Hoping it's as easy as everyone seems to imply.

Recent new construction put in can lights. So glad in the main room I insisted on boxes for normal fixtures. The wafer thin can lights have technical advantages but not my aesthetic.

I’ve installed every type of light you can imagine. As far as can lights, the thin ones are my favorite because I can put them anywhere regardless of framing. Meaning I can achieve whatever layout the client wants

*across the pound" I have 3 rooms that have been remodeled a couple years ago and have LED canlights. doesn't have the swivel bit but it works pretty well and is easy to replace in case it goes bad. It will depend if you are going for some sort of theme in the room and there maybe a older looking canlight should be more appropriate

Beer can lights. In the lounge with all the deer heads and the double barrel over the fire place. Right above my camouflage couch.

New construction home built 3 years ago. We have recessed cans with an LED trim kit. This seems like the most flexible option. We were able to swap out the trip kit for a higher wattage version in our laundry room. Just the wafers don't seem to have that flexibility.

The house came with traditional canlights. I haven't installed any new ones.

Sort of a personal question. I mean why does my can need lighted anyway? Trust me, nobody wants to see it, and it doesn't need a spotlight.

Haven’t yet… but planning on doing it in the next few weeks. 3 rows of 3 for the living room. 2 rows of 3 for the kitchen. Not looking forwards to it.

Originally put in cans and have since replaced the bulbs with led wafers

I'm in the process of replacing my traditional cans with Halo recessed wafers. Only thing I noticed so far is the gasket on the halos are not thick enough for good air sealing.

I didn't install them but the few I have are the thin LED variants. I hate them for several reasons, most of which stem from the terrible quality and spectrum coverage of their emitters.

I'd like to swap the cans for wafers, but haven't found the ideal replacement product yet
