"How many Pokemons can I name while cooking you meatballs again?" Also happy new year to you too!

I always like "which Pokemon would be edible" or "Which Pokemon would kill you if you ate them." I think nutrition, toxicity, and tooth density could all play a major role here.

-Longest turn in a triple or rotation battle -most amount of spread damage dealt in a single turn of a double battle, or the most amount of special damage done in a single move -highest amount of damage done to a team in a single turn using only hazards and secondary effects - what is the team matchup with the lowest but not impossible probability of ending (via every struggle critting) in gen 9 if both players actively attempted to finish it from turn 1 (i.e. no swap or regen stalling)

Happy New Year to you as well! Personally, I'm pretty impressed with the maturity to lay all this out as clearly as that, and I'm looking forward to the future of this channel! So long as you're having fun making these, I think there will always be people out here who enjoy watching them. Anyway for video ideas, you could keep "what is the shortest turn possible in Pokémon" in your back pocket until April 1st and have it just be a four second video where you say "pick any pokémon. next, forfeit immediately" or something like that.

“Brainfuck” is an apt name for the coding language you used because the computer video was the most wild thing I’ve ever seen done in Pokémon. Hope you can code Doom in Pokémon Showdown next year. In all seriousness, best wishes in 2025.

Hey man, long-time subscriber and fellow computer scientist here. Just wanted to let you know that I thoroughly enjoyed all your videos, but the showdown turing machine blew me away. Literally top-notch content. I recently started my own channel so now I know how much work it takes to put something like that together. Keep it up, and happy new year!

Most damage survived? Like, one half of your inevitable smeargle squad working on big damage mult while the other half working on juicing the target's defenses (might not be shuckle, who knows), then the math of what damage would have been in HP points before all the mitigation. Best I got for your brand of poke-math. I'll get back to you if anything else (better) hits me. And parasociality is a reasonable thing to worry about, but if you tackle it head on, it instead just becomes regular sociality. There will always be some kind of parasocialism in this kind of space, but if you're a patient real human about it, the negative aspects of it can easily be rendered harmless. The benefit of having a collaborative dimension of your own to harvest inspiration from is definitely worth the effort involved in maintaining it.

I’m gonna keep this short or it’ll be too long, thank you for the wonderful year! I’m not sure how long it’s been but it’s been more than a great time, each time! Thank you for doing what you do, the passion and time you put in shows and we’ll keep being here to root you on! Stay random, and stay you! Thanks for a wonderful 2024 and here’s to the future! P.S. Fav was the only normal type run, had a nice homely touch to it!

Can confirm that the poll was the reason I read the whole thing. You are a genius.

In 2028, will you change your YouTube channel bio (if you haven’t taken over the world that is)?

Honestly as a computer science student the making a computer in showdown was so unique

I think I've missed a few videos, I definitely don't remember the "giving every country a Pokémon" one, sounds good though, I'll watch it

I think an interesting video could be "Can you beat perfect luck in Pokemon?". Essentially, how possible is it to beat someone who gets every secondary effect of every move all the time?

Have you got any plans for a merch store? Pins, stickers, or prints with some of your references and jokes would be so cool 😍

King The Luck
Happy new year everybody! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break. Longish post incoming, I do love to yap.
You'll notice I didn't upload a video this month, this is not because of any major problems or issues with regards to me or the channel, I simply had the epihpany that I'm my own boss for this whole thing and I can kind of take a break without a major sense of guilt or FOMO, which is pretty cool I won't lie.
This has had the unforseen benefit of giving me the mental breathing room to ideate a bit on the channel's direction in the medium-short term so do look out for some particularly silly videos in the coming months, I'm very happy with what I've come up with and I hope you'll enjoy the slight shift away from pure mathematic/mechanics based Pokemon content (I have literally run out of ideas on that front. I thought I ran out like half way through last year but I'm like OUT out now. Suggestions welcome in the comments, twitter DMs, semaphore, smoke signals etc)
In other news we're coming up on the channel's 2nd Birthday and entering the third year of video production this week, which is very exciting. It has got me thinking about something I'd mentioned in the past and have been asked about multiple times, which is starting a Discord server. You may know I've been fairly hesitant to start one before, mostly due to concerns over parasociality, and also moderation to some degree. I think now I'm much more happy to take ownership and accountability if anything does go wrong in that regard, because I think that's necessary when trying to foster a Community.
This isn't something I have any experience in so it might take a while, but watch this space!
Also here's a poll for engagement. What was your favourite video of mine I did last year? Mine was the National Pokemon video, expect more stuff in that direction this coming year.
