I had no idea you were in Asheville. All of my loves ones and all of their loved ones are safe and accounted for though they are not able to leave and are running low on water. In Charlotte NC we have so many organizations gathering supplies to be sent up in the next few days.

Very saddened to see all the destruction over there. Quite unexpected and sudden, especially in that region. Another youtuber I follow, LGR, had his house damaged by fallen trees and water, but thankfully he and his family are safe, which is what matters most. I hope everyone in that region stays safe and gets all the recovery assistance they need.

I believe I speak for all those in Britain when I say our thoughts are with all those in Asheville. 😔 It’s horrible that this had to happen. We progressed quickly and then all of a sudden this happens. Tell anyone you see that the thoughts of Britain are with them

Kia Kaha - stay strong. This is from te reo Māori, the Māori language, indigenous to Aotearoa New Zealand. Here in Christchurch, New Zealand, we empathise after the devastating earthquakes of 2010 and 2012.

A hospital near where I live was flooded to the roof. National Guard had to fly in a helicopter to rescue the patients and staff, very glad all were safe

Is the iron statue intact? If so, there's definitely hope. I hope the city recovers!

This is eerie since I was there just the weekend before the storm and was able to visit ironland for the first time. Glad to hear you’re ok and are able to help out. You’ll be making this an international relief effort! Long Live Asheville! Long Live Ironland!

I had no idea you lived in Asheville. I live in Raleigh and I’ve already donated twice and I have three more huge donations to make this week. Praying for beautiful Asheville. It was one of my favorite vacation areas. Such a magnificent region. It’s one of the most amazing things I love about North Carolina. Edit: all of the comments I see from international communities makes me tear up. NC is blessed to have so much support right now.

My city of Asheville, NC has been devastated by catastrophic flooding from Hurricane Helene. As you can see, the floodwaters were literally higher than the streetlamps in some areas. The destruction is pretty extreme. While I was able to evacuate the city safely today, the situation remains dire.
100,000 people are still stuck in the city without power, water, or any timeline for recovery. We were without cell service for days, even unable to reach 911. If you swipe to the last photo, you’ll see that large sections of interstate have completely washed away, making it difficult for people to get out, or for supplies to get in. Only one major road out remains open-- to the south, but today the nearest working gas station was 100 miles away, and many people don't have enough gas to reach it.
If you know anyone in or near Asheville or Western North Carolina- please reach out immediately by text. Fortunately, some cell service has been restored to the area, but most. residents still have no internet to find out vital information about food, water, and new evacuation orders.
I plan to share what I’ve learned about infrastructure and crisis communication in some new videos soon, as well as check on the status of our Ironland statue, but at the moment I do need to focus on helping friends find some water to drink.
Stay safe, and please spread the word.
