Disventure Camp 4: Carnival of Chaos – Advice for the Remaining 8 . . . Again by PintheDog
The eighteenth episode of Disventure Camp 4: Carnival of Chaos was probably the most fun one of the season. The nine remaining campers reeled from the results of previous elimination, and they had to work out ways to move forward. The alliances shifted once again, and the loyalties changed. And as a result of the challenge, everything led up to one of the best, most satisfying eliminations of the season.
The Gal Pals 2.0 had been fractured due to the duplicity of Anastasia in leading the charge against Natalia and getting her voted out in the last episode. Isabel and Jade had firmly lost trust with her and were jonesing to make her pay for it. Especially Isabel, who’d been close with Natalia. Jade had another hang-up, though, in finally, formally cutting strategic ties with Spencer. Meanwhile, Logan and Zaid both woke up to the fact that they had been played by Anastasia into helping out her game at the expense of their own game for weeks (and Logan even realized that he’d thrown his alliance away and pretty much whittled them down just to please Anastasia, who was not even in his alliance) and decided to make up for their mistake by joining up with each other in a bros’ alliance in the hopes of recovering, even to the point of reluctantly pulling in an isolated Spencer, who had lost Logan’s trust upon learning that he’d been responsible for Richard and Natalia’s eliminations.
The Immunity Challenge for this episode was actually something that has been a Reward Challenge on Survivor — the Disventure Camp auction! With Trevor and the newly-forgiven Emily hosting (as a full-fledged host now!), the campers would be given 500 Disventure Camp dollars that could use to bid on various items, be they food, luxuries, advantages, or, in one case, immunity. They had to bid in increments of twenty dollars and hope to have the highest bid. They were not allowed to share items, but they could pool money if they wanted to beat someone in bidding for items. This was used twice to stop one particular camper on everyone’s hit list from winning any item. The auction could stop at any time without warning, so the campers would have to get the items while they could. Unfortunately for three campers — Amelie, Spencer, and Zaid — they wound up being the only ones to not get anything at all.
Another camper has been voted out, and this was a camper whom everybody left in the game was thrilled to see go. But now, with the alliances set in place going forward, the remaining campers must figure out how to proceed as they continue jockeying for the best possible position to make it to the finale. It is advice for the remaining eight . . . again.
Purple Team
The Gal Pals, despite voting differently in the last episode, all came back together once again. This means that the women ruled the roost once more, and the men found themselves on the outside. What does this mean for each member of the merged team going forward?
Hannah: You are now at the top of the Gal Pals 2.0, though not because you are the leader. You being part of the swing-vote pair with Amelie gives you the most power in that alliance, especially with them all back together. Assuming the alliance stays together to vote out Logan and Zaid in either order, you and Amelie must choose correctly between siding with Anastasia and Marissa and Isabel and Jade. Choose the pair that’ll get you as close to the finale possible, not the more threatening pair.
Amelie: As Hannah’s right-hand woman, you are now the second-highest of the Gal Pals 2.0. Mostly see my advice to Hannah and continue playing the middle between Anastasia and Marissa and Isabel and Jade. Vote out Logan and Zaid in either order (preferably Logan first if he doesn’t win immunity), and then, as soon as only the women are left, choose which pair of women with whom you and Hannah will side. I suggest Isabel and Jade since they’d be easier to beat in challenges.
Marissa: You are being looked at as much less of a threat compared to Anastasia, so while you drop in the rankings, you only drop to third. My advice to you is to start paying more attention to the other women in the alliance rather than devote so much time to just Anastasia. Nurture your bond with Hannah and Amelie so that, should Logan and Zaid be the next two voted out, they will side with you and Anastasia over Isabel and Jade. That will help you maintain your control of the game.
Anastasia: You’re kind of worse for the wear now that it’s been exposed exactly how paranoid and impulsive you are the instant that somebody targets you. It showed when Richard got voted out and again when Natalia was, and it almost got you this time. Only Hannah getting you to see that Spencer was attempting to play you saved you from saving him yet again. At this point, see my advice to Marissa and nurture your relationships with Hannah and Amelie (which, by the way, means not being such a bitch to them) and stop spending time only with Marissa. The war between you and Marissa and Isabel and Jade is rife to start once Logan and Zaid are gone (if they’re the next two go), so you will need to get all of the allies you’ll need when the Gal Pals 2.0 start to break up.
Isabel: You manage to rise back up with the Gal Pals 2.0 coming back together, but you’re one of the lower rungs of the ladder right now. Try to entice Hannah and Amelie into siding with you and Jade once Logan and Zaid are gone. Or if you really want to retaliate against Anastasia for Natalia’s ouster, get together with Jade, Logan, and Zaid to vote against Anastasia, Marissa, Hannah, and Amelie. The vote will be a 4-4 deadlock, but one use of Jade’s new Vote Steal advantage will turn it into a 5-3 majority and allow you to take control of the game, potentially with a new alliance.
Jade: Because of the Gal Pals 2.0 ultimately coming back together, you move up. But as you were the one targeted, you are now at the bottom of the women. But now that you have your Vote Steal advantage from the auction, you might be able to take control of the game. See my advice for Isabel and gather Logan and Zaid to join you two. Then, steal the vote of any one of Anastasia, Marissa, Hannah, or Amelie, vote twice, and eliminate anyone of your choice from that foursome with a 5-3 vote. That’ll help you take back control. Or you can just vote out Logan and Zaid next and try and get Hannah and Amelie on your side against Anastasia and Marissa. However, given how much Hannah distrusts you for Amelie, Tristan, and Benji’s vote-offs, that might be a non-starter.
Zaid: You move down for the Gal Pals 2.0 sticking together and leaving you and Logan out of the vote. At this point, all that you can do is work your way in with the women with Logan’s help. Pick a pair with whom to side and hope that they can help you oppose the remaining four women. Doing so will help you get out of the minority and help you take control of the game.
Logan: You’re at the bottom for one reason: you are too much of a threat, being young, male, and very physically fit. You’ve also won a challenge, which makes you even more threatening. At this point, your one way to survive is seeing my advice for Zaid and joining your bros’ alliance with any two women to make a foursome against another foursome. Or try to get three women together. No, that won’t work, as all six women are paired up, just as you and Zaid now are. So either get a pair of women willing to deadlock the vote with you, or try to get in with two pairs. Otherwise, it’s all over.
Spencer: What went wrong? Do we need to ask? Your disgraceful social game. You burned too many bridges to the point that everybody hated you, or simply distrusted you. Even with your strategic acumen and your commendable skills in challenges, you still had to remember the social game, and you just blew it. Add in the fact that you tried to play everybody one too many times, and all of the others just got wise to it. I’m not sad about this, though. I’m glad you are gone and won’t be winning that million dollars.
But that's MY advice. What advice do YOU have for the remaining campers? Let me know in the comments below!
