If future upgradability is a concern, a 7600X/7600 on B650, if not, a 5700X on B550. An Arc B580 or B570 if you can get it at or near MSRP, a 3060 12 GB otherwise. The RX 7600XT is too expensive, at least in my market, to consider, though I would suggest it if you find it at a comparable price to the other GPUs. 32 gigs ram based on mobo compatibility, 3200-3600 MT/s CL 14-18 for DDR4, 6000MT/s CL 30 for DDR5.

If I can go aliexpress a ryzen 5 5600, b450m motherboard and 16gb of Ram is currently £158 with the motherboard and cpu being new. The graphics card is the issue. A 4060 is £250 and is far better than the rx 6600 at £200.

Ryzen 5 5600, DDR 4 16gb, 3060 or rx6600, 500 SSD, 650 power supply and some nice motherboard for 99$ I don't remember the exact ones but their out their when you look it up or at least it should, their then lays the case and peripherals which is actually what kills budget builds because goobers forget about those so I thought I'd mention it

GPU availability is still terrible. If you're okay with used, there are a ton of choices, but if limited to new components, I'd probably go for one of the Ryzen APUs. The 8700g is powerful(about on par with a GTX 1650) but expensive, the 8600g is less powerful (GTX 1050-960 performance) but reasonably priced and capable enough with FSR, and the 8500g... is 2% faster than a GT 1030. Not great...

would have to be AM5 for me as i would want the future upgrade path, entry level am5 cpus can be about the same price as mid tier am4 and the cost of ddr5 is low atm, 16gb 5200 can be had for under £60, killer would be the cost of a gpu. too the point i would even consider a APU if strictly going 1080p 60fps Yeah you can get better performance with AM4 but for how long?

It all depends on budget right now, rather than what performance you want. If someone was to ask me to build them a PC right now it's going to have: Thermalright dual tower cooler, B850 mobo (The Gigabyte Eagle Wifi6E has been the best value for a long time), 2x16GB 6000 CL30 (whatever brand is cheapest), NVMe drive prices change daily, but I generally prefer to have a 500GB/1TB boot drive that's fast with a cache, and a 'steam drive' that's 1TB+, doesn't NEED to have a cache, and can be older PCIe gens, The Antec AX61 Elite is a good value case, reliably cheap, though I wish they'd use 'normal' fans, 750W Seasonic PSU (whichever semi/full modular happens to be cheapest), Right now, the above clocks in at about £600. CPU and GPU selection is then entirely based on the remaining budget. For £1000 total budget, you're looking at a 7600X and an RX 6700 £1200 - 9600X and a 7700 XT £1400 - 9600X and a 9070 £1600 - 9600X and a 9070 XT £1800 - 9800X3D and a 9070 XT
