You're lost in the deep woods at night. What is your biggest fear?

As a kid, I used to be afraid of ghosts. One of my core memories was my dad telling me the only thing you ever really have to be afraid of is people.

Finding a man in the woods

@BlueBean.0.9.

You’d expect a bear in the middle of the woods at night, that’s not horror (though scary). A person, on the other hand…

I’m not investigating a strange noise, so the whistling won’t bother me. If I see eyes, I’m assuming it’s an animal and can prepare accordingly. With the cabin, I will politely mind my own business and again avoid investigating until morning. A ā€œfriendlyā€ stranger offering help honestly freaks me out the most because of how easy it is to manipulate someone when they’re already afraid for their safety. They could do a number of terrible things. And even if I refuse help, they still might attack anyway because I’m alone.

People. Always people. Bears are less scary than people.

"The Whistler", a sort of boogieman ghost told about in my culture, straight up prevents me from ever walking outside in the evening near bodies of water

I was out on my deck puffing a dart at 4am. It was dead quiet and the thickness in the was almost tangible. It didn’t bother me so much, until I heard the whistle off to my right somewhere. It wasn’t just any normal whistling; it was repetitive and deliberately done in a pattern. When I tell you a chill went up my spine, I mean it. This happens every so often, but there’s never been anything close enough to the house where I can see it in my flood lights.

Remembering the time I was like thirteen, walking home through the woods ’cause the party ended early and I didn’t wanna call my mom. Anyway, I’m halfway down the trail and this creepy dude steps out from behind a tree like he’d been waiting. Starts saying just gross, disgusting stuff about me. I fucking bolted. Full sprint. Didn’t even look back. I don’t think I’ve ever run that fast in my life lol. And get this my sister left the party later and the SAME dude tried to walk with her on the road. He kept touching her hair and even grabbed at her arm, saying he ā€˜wanted to show her something.’ Luckily some guys she sorta knew were walking behind her, and the second they showed up, the creep backed off and left. šŸ¤·šŸ¼
