I was about 10 when Marvins song what's going on was a hit on the radio, I'm a big rock fan but love all music and his songs were spirit lifting, I still play some of his music today over 50 years later.

When I was a kid - who loved his music - I burst into tears when the radio said he was dead because his father shot him. I was horrified. As an adult, I’ve read about his drug-induced mental illness and that he had a gun and was tormenting his family. As a long-time sober person myself, I know what drugs can do to a formerly beautiful mind. I drew Marvin many times in a sketchbook. Wish I could post it here.
