Just got back from the ‪@synologyinc‬ Solutions event in London. A whole lot of stuff got covered, with further Scale out storage, surveillance and AI doing most of the heavy lifting! Stand out elements would be the DVA7400, a GPU-equipped NAS down the road, more indications of ABB getting supported and Synology Chat Plus and Meets. Of course, hard drives were discussed (fair-play to Synology, they addressed it first) but the answers still felt rather weak. Also, A #synology SD Card is a thing apparently... Read it all here in the wrap-up article, video soon - nascompares.com/2025/09/11/synology-solution-exhib…

Since Synology's HDDs aren't selling well, they're trying to bundle them with other products.

"This change is not about limiting choice, it’s about accountability." Then why not simply give limited support to consumers who want to buy WD or Seagate HDDs? Is that too resource-intensive to give a 1yr or 2yr limited warranty to those and give full unlimited lifetime warranty for Synology drives? And if the answer is yes, the follow-up question is: is Synology about to go bankrupt? Even this strategy would come with significant blowback from consumers. But at least it wouldn't amount to committing seppuku in the consumer market. Imho, their decision still doesn't make pecuniary sense and none of their explanations give us a full picture of their actual strategy. Thank you for your reporting, @NAScompares. No doubt the best source of news for this market
