Two of my core philosophies I live by… things I chose to call “truth” because they serve me and those around me…

Remain in a state of gratitude for who/what is in your life and more goodness will flow to you. If you aren’t grateful on a regular basis for what you have then why should you receive anymore? You don’t give a kid two scoops of ice cream if he can’t even handle the one.

Be generous with what you have received as you recognize that everything is a gift, I’m not entitled to anything no matter how much I think I’ve earned it… as you give so too shall you receive or as you have received so too shall you give.

When I remain in alignment with those principles, it’s hard to shake me. When I forget them, I lose my footing.

And the secret sauce is to have faith. Faith that everything will work out for the good, whether you’re able to recognize it or not. Be humble to realize that you don’t have an omniscient perspective to know what is the greater good. Some people think they aren’t religious but fail to realize we all worship something… some worship God, some worship money, some worship beauty, some worship their careers, some worship social media.. but everyone recognizes the consciousness that exists within all of us or else the body wouldn’t function. The answer to the question “Who am I?” Followed by “Who is asking the question?”. It’s the only thing that is unchanging and therefore the only thing that is real. Everything else is just material and will immaterialize with time. Your body is literally (on a celular level) a different body every 7 years. So to recognize the spirit within and place that of higher importance than the things of the world. That’s how you can really enjoy life… enjoying all the nice and fun things but never overvaluing them. That’s how you never “lose” anything. When you can’t lose anything you radically reduce the amount of suffering in your life.

Stefan and I are getting excited to move into our “dream home”… we love having a beautiful space, we appreciate art, we like fun toys like boats and jet skis and all the tech gadgets and we work to have the money to afford them but they key is to never delude ourselves to thinking that in those things we will find happiness. When you place your happiness and value in the hands of the material world you’ll never be satisfied, there’s an unending list of things things you’ll need to acquire, of money you’ll need to earn, of success you’ll need to accomplish… this is the hamster wheel and all it takes is to recognize it and then continue living in the world but not of it.

You gotta recognize the game you’re in… then you start playing it.
