Lewie and the Rover

We have now been home for one week. It feels strange after one and a half years of travelling. We took it easy, unpacked the car, and slowly got used to being back in a house again.

But that does not mean we have nothing to do. If you saw our most recent video from the BFGoodrich event, you already know our new plans. But we will share a bit more in detail.

In April, the Hilux will go on the boat to North America. Before that happens, the Hilux needs a full preparation. Here are some of the main upgrades we will do:

- A completely new interior in the Alu-Cab camper
- New Alu-Cab accessories
- New lighting from Laser Lamps
- Probably a diesel heater, built internally
- And most likely a heavy-duty clutch

We will of course film everything and keep you up to date through the whole process.
Once all that is done, in mid-April the Hilux will be shipped RoRo from Antwerp to Halifax, Canada.

We will fly directly from Amsterdam to Halifax with Lewie on WestJet. We chose this flight because it is the shortest and the easiest for him. Schiphol is only 30 minutes from our home, so this will be the least stressful option.

From Halifax we will drive all the way to the west coast of Canada, spending a lot of time in British Columbia, Vancouver, and Vancouver Island. Then we will go up to the Yukon, and from there into Alaska.

After that, we will start driving down again through the United States — Washington State, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Utah, Nevada… and all the beautiful places in between — until we reach Mexico.

And after Mexico? We don’t know yet. Maybe we will continue all the way down the Pan-American Highway, maybe we will return home. Time will tell.

For now, it feels good to be home, to prepare everything properly, and to get ready for what will probably be our biggest adventure so far.
