I recommend joining some Facebook groups and purchasing one already built if you’d like to save some money. Many people build these and realize that they weren’t going to spend the time using them. I have 2 (one for my HDTV) and another just for my CRT setup. I love them!

There are essentially two different main hardware configurations. One with a single stick of RAM, and an analog output board, and one with two sticks of RAM. The single RAM module with the analog board is great if you plan on using a CRT and capturing at the same time, as you have both analog and hdmi video out. The dual ram setup isn't necessarily necessary right now, as no cores use it currently, but it's future proofing for potential cores that might need the extra RAM in the future. I'd recommend the analog setup unless you'd never plan on using it. Setup does have a premade update script that can download tons of cores for you on the fly, and you can configure it to download the actual games themselves, at least for arcade games. Console games you'll have to provide the game files and bios (if necessary) yourself, but update process for the cores themselves happens pretty easily by just hitting the update script in the menu.

Hey community, first off, you all ROCK! I have been enjoying my Analogue Pocket so much that it got me thinking about the potential for the MiSTer platform itself. I'm looking for some assistance from you all. What is the best way to get into this? I've found a few links to "complete" solutions, but I would rather hear what you all say. If there is a one-click solution that would be amazing so I don't need to worry about anything, just order the product and then install a few files and away we go. Do you have recommendations? I want to make sure I get everything I need. I've heard there is an Updater that works like it does on the Analogue Pocket where it installs everything you need automatically. That would be a dream. I am really looking to get SEGA CD, and other CD-based systems. The Pocket has a beta for PC Engine but it's rough, I've heard the MiSTer is just about perfect for some of these and that there's even a Saturn core that's coming along nicely.
Thank you all in advance for any information you can provide or advice you can give :)
