A Father's Prayer -------------- It was a chilly night in Jerusalem, when a local carpenter, Daniel, was kneeling by the bedside of his sick son. His young boy Eli, had not been well for multiple days now. The doctors had given no certainty and optimism seemed like a dim distant light. As hope was dwindling, Daniel’s face was covered in tears as he whispered, “Lord, please… heal my son.”
News broke out a few days later claiming that Jesus of Nazareth was making his way through villages. Daniel was looking for a healer and so wrapped Eli in a blanket and set out into the streets looking for the healer.
Even though the crowd was larger than expected, Daniel kept making his way through. His effort paid off as he reached Jesus; Daniel dropped to unusual believers knees begging out aloud, “my son ID is dying.”
To calm the child, Jesus looked at him and said, “Your faith has healed him” after gently touching his forehead.
Astonishingly, Eli was able to open his eyes. Now his father could comfort him as he smiled weakly.
This was the glorifying moment that made Daniel cry—not from sadness, but filled with joy. His heart was so full that he cradled his son and said, “Thank you Lord."
“Years down the road, Eli would recount for his children the tale of how he was touched by Jesus,” is an excerpt from that small home in Jerusalem, that believes in miracles and stories full of love and faith.
