Snow sequence might be like one of the best peaks ever imo, im not completely sure about the other

Haven't read the magic mountain but chapter XXV is definitively one of the greatest chapter that i have ever read and i doubt that mann could habe done a better chapter

Though I wouldn't consider it the absolute best peak, i would say the end of the veins of gold chapter in the Wheel of Time was an absolute perfect climax toward Rand character arc up to this point. Also Pierre avoiding his execution in War and Peace and becoming a truly enlightened individual after that was an exceptionnal pay off though I still prefer Andrei overall. And in my personnal favorite book/book series of all time Malazan Book of the Fallen one of the final scene where Tavore finally lay all the pain she had to contain for so long was just the single most heart breaking moment in litterature I've seen (That and Beak for those who know).
