Leslie you are doing an amazing job! I just found your station awhile ago and you do a great job articulating the reality of the situation and what you are dealing with from both a caretaker and patient's standpoint and what so many people don't understand. My Dad was diagnosed with FTD a little over 8 years ago and we too have been sharing his journey on YouTube. I too have had some cruel comments made for sharing. I think a lot of people are in denial or think you should talk about these topics publicly. I think something we both have in common is we are talking openly about it with our loved one, acknowledging it and normalizing it so they get the care needed and that is necessary to make their quality of life the best it can be. The best advice I give others is meet them where they are and that can change daily, and at times by the minute. I don't ever want my Dad to be embarrassed or confine himself because of his disease. That's why I am constantly talking about it to bring more awareness to it. I am not sure what meds you have tried, but my Dad is on Trazadone twice a day and that works great for him. However, I know not everyone can handle it. I subscribed to your channel and keep the videos coming because it will surely help others out there dealing with something similar. If you ever want someone to talk to please reach out because I would love to connect with someone dealing with something similar and who has similar views in care - 216-509-1798 (Sandra).

Just had to respond to a recent post done mentioning hygiene. I really don't think the odor has anything to do with dementia. My husband has been plagued with it since his early 50s. Even with 2 showers daily. Doc says it's due to his greasy skin. Especially his scalp and neck. Now age 80, he's even stinkier. Very clean man but oily.
