You don't really need any of them. For a while I started my PC by shorting the respective pins on the motherboard with a screwdriver. Bit of a faff, but I was too cheap to buy a new button

The thing is, it's not hard to to. But it is hella fiddly depending on the case. Sometimes you just can't really see well and it is one of the few things you can't do before putting the motherboard in the case. Most motherboards have the pin layout printed on the pcb right next to it so you don't even have to look it up. It's just annoying to do.

Plug the 'POWER SW' onto pins 3 and 4 across the top row with the words facing down. That's all you really need if you just want to turn the PC on.

There's a BIOS setting to switch on the machine when the power is plugged in. Who needs buttons! And if it's on all the time (you should be sneeding after all), those LEDs will just keep you awake. So just leave em all unplugged!

Power LEDs being separated into powered and neutral is still wild. Do any Mobos still split this connection? I haven't built a PC in the past decade (though I have to update my CPU later this week).

Don’t remind me of the bargain bin case my dad bought me in the 90s that had all single pin connectors and none of them were labeled.

Idk how, but my main used to have it properly in and the I moved something around in it and had to take them out, so I just put them back as far to the left and it just works

and 8/10 it’s the right pin and wire but needs to be slightly turned on an angle 😂

You can get away with just power and reset if you don't care about LEDs displaying power, HDD, and NIC activity. As a builder of rack servers, every pin is required for my customers, which sucks because those single pins are so annoying, I can never remember the layout, so this step takes annoyingly long for such a small component, and is the only reason I have to look at the manual.
