This is pretty good timing. Earlier I was watching a video where someone in the comments asked you to review Chinese armor.

The carrier is a series-19 variant in gen 1 Starry Sky, not standard issue. Generally seen more often with PAP/Special Warfare over general PLAGF personnel. The plate if it's similar to the one I have it should be ceramic composite with a rating around NIJ level 3. As for the helmet it looks to be a proper Gen 1 series-19 helmet that would be Aramid/Kevlar rating similar to a Mich 2000.

The words if translated literally is "Bullet Strike Surface". If possible, is there other markings on the other side of the plate?

Type 19 Xingkong latest Chinese body armor and helmet. Camo version looks like woodland one or dunno there are like 5 different Xingkong variants produced. Looks like rifleman vest + helmet compatible with PLAGF monocular NVG (that sucks just about the same as Russian ones). Plates should protect ya from 9 and 556 but don't expect much. Wonder if ya got also the QR code tags there are issued with QR patches though is unit wise. Greetings from that one allied country.

Honest opinion, I think they will be roughly equivalent to level III not iiia, I base this on my experience that when the Chinese govt wants something to display their power it generally gets some quality components and actual effort, if it says anything to the respect of "proudly made in the people's republic of china" it tends to be actual quality for propaganda reasons

If some Chinese wish companies can make level III armor I would guess these might work

It’s a polystyrene shell filled with white rabbit candies, the hardest material known to man, the secret weapon of the Chinese military

Okay Oxide, time to test the asian armors. I see a lot of them online, the ceramics are pretty decent but some steel ones have very questionable ballistic performance.

How do you get these odd (to US) plate carriers, that,s crazy.
