Miranda, a pianist raised in Argentina, decides to travel to Mexico in search of her roots. Accompanied by her bodyguard Leo, she learns that she was taken at birth from her biological mother, who is now a patient in a psychiatric hospital. Determined to find those responsible, she uses Javier to work her way into the Lara Castillo family. Little does she know that their newly arrived cousin from Spain is using her to take control of the family's illegal business. When Miranda discovers that her biological father is not the Lara patriarch, but MartÃn Sanguinetti, the man who adopted her, her world collapses. Feeling betrayed, she confronts her biological father and cuts all ties with him. In an act of redemption, he saves Miranda's life by taking a bullet for her.
