Wonderful photo of Rory and his Telecaster. (A photo of Rory and his Stratocaster wouldn't have gone amiss today !).... The Stratocaster is being displayed (as we saw yesterday) in the fully refurbished part of Collins Barracks. The exhibition 'The Changing Irish Galleries' will invite visitors to reflect on objects on display and answer the question - Cad Is Ann Eire Dar Leat ? 'What Is Ireland To You"?...... My answer would be ::::: An Island I feel a great affinity with, perhaps having lived there in a previous life ! ... Admiration for its citizens, a love of the traditions, culture, history and the enchanting myths and legends, and of course the music.... On a brief visit to Cork in June of 1996 I saw a beautiful City, extraordinarily beautiful landscapes and felt the warmth and friendliness of the Irish people ... On leaving Rory's graveside there was a great sadness, an overwhelming sense of loss tinged with a bittersweet feeling of joy - the joy of remembering the many performances I'd been privileged enough to witness, performances by a musician the likes of whom we will never see again.. I prefer to think that Rory is not resting in St. Oliver's Cemetery, he decided to make a detour and is just waiting in a different room.... My Lord Of The Strings... Thanks a million Rory G, for a lifetime of music and magical memories. An exceptional musician and songwriter. A unique and exceptional human being. A true gentleman.
