I stopped fasting as much. Now I’m realizing the trick is random bouts of fasting (somewhat frequently) coupled with higher quality food intake on the days I don’t fast. Example: fast 20 hours Monday and eat a small dinner (maybe 1,200 cals total), and the next day feast on high quality, nutrient dense food (maybe 3000 calories for me). My recovery is through the roof and mental game on point. Fasting is making a COMEBACK!

@mommerang

I like Dr. Stacy Sims advice. She says, “Women are not little men”. Women cannot fast the same way men fast and expect the same results, especially women of a certain age. Intermittent fasting stopped working for me. I followed Dr. Sims advice by increasing my daily protein, and eating a high protein breakfast earlier in the morning, before I exercise. Dr. Sims says, “When cortisol is calling, you have to answer it.” I’m losing belly fat, and my workouts are improving. I’d like you to present any differences in results between women and men when you cover specific topics, or at least confess when your advice produces certain results for men, but not necessarily the same results for women. At this time, most research studies have a bias toward male participants. When you cite human research studies, it would be nice if you tell us if the participants are male or female or both.

I fast once a week for spiritual reasons, but have no doubt it’s also boosting my health as a side win.

Your nighttime apple cider vinegar fasting drink got me through my first 48 hour fast. It was amazing. Thank you!

Same, I dropped 100lbs but now I am trying to put on muscle and easing out of deficit. My problems right now is trying to get all my protein and nutrients in while keeping my calories down.

I lost 70 pounds. I fast on the 16 hour interval Monday through Friday, with my largest meal at my "lunch" meal. Typically, eat a light dinner focusing on protein. Kinda like a 1.5_MAD. 😀 Weekends I eat like a "normal" person with my family. In about 2.5 years and no exercise routine, I am down 70 pounds. No other meds or nonsense. Stay positive and consistent. You can do it too

Yes! Definitely good to switch things up and fast differently as needed. I found that broadening my fasting window as the week goes on and the narrowing it again at the top of the week works well for me—it’s that “feast/famine” cycling —-and I found that I was just doing that without even realizing it. Works great!🎉

Intuitive fasting, actually listening to my body's needs works for me. My fast have no timing and vary drastically. Sometimes I eat like there's no tomorrow. I think its more in tune to energy, immunomodulation, environmental factors and probably mimics what our epigenetic history encountered which ultimately shapes our current needs. Structure was probably only seasonal for our ancestors and even then limited by so many potential factors. Our current artificial environment, artificial food and sedentary lifestyle where we don't have to expend any energy for nutrition is the most unnatural disease producing state.

I've been fasting since 2016 between 20-24 hrs. I'm 53 about to be 54 this year. Now I do alternate day fasting 3 times a week and I eat 2 sometimes 3 meals on my days off. I'm about 90% carnivore because I Love my coffee and I also have raw honey. I chose this route because I think I was having too much cortisol build up. I was also having trouble sleeping. I also wanted to lower my cortisol before I started getting belly fatl. I can't be bothered with belly fat. I have to pay attention with fasting coupled with carnivore because I don't need to lose weight. I'm a 4'11" female. I hover between 100-105. I also lift. I stretch everyday. The only cardio I do is walk, sprints, HIIT on my spin bike if the weather is bad. I don't run a bunch of miles everyday like I used to in my 30's and early 40's. If I decide to run it's a very light jog alternating with walking. I try to go for a walk after eating or at least do 50 squats and 50 calf raises. According to my Fitbit I'm getting good sleep even when I don't get 8 hours. My goal is to get at least 7 hours of straight sleep.

Fast once a year for a month for about 12-14 hours. The discipline you grow during that period is unreal

I fast two days a week, 18-20 hrs Tuesday and Thursday and on those days I eat about half of my daily calories. It’s really helped me lose a couple pounds a week consistently. Those are the days I do low intensity workouts just to get the heart rate up. The other days I do strength workouts and cardio. I do stop eating by 7pm and then have my first meal around 8:30-9:30am so I guess you could say I’m fasting the other days too but it’s just my normal wake time especially when I work late.

The first time I did a 5 day fast, I felt fantastic, not hungry, and super clear minded. I just ended a 7 day fast on the 5th day because I felt absolutely terrible, continuous cramping, and could not sleep. Listen to you body. I like this idea of sporadic fasting

Over 40 and an endurance athlete, I stopped fasting, keto, fasted exercise, and doing so much better! I'll still do 12 hours overnight fast but that's all.

I intermittent fast (18-20 hours) on the weekdays and eat at will on the weekends (still good whole foods with single meal treats at times when out with friends). Been doing it for a decade and don't need to change a thing so far.

Just finished a 14 day fast, I used a teaspoon of allulose in my 1 black coffee I allowed myself in the morning. It really helped hunger. I picked up that hack from one of your videos. Thanks!

@hallelujah969

I began autophagy fasting. I'm choosing to fast 1 day the first week of each month, 2 days during the second week of each month, 3 days each week during the third week of each month, and finally 4 days during the fourth week of each month. If there is a fifth week, I allow myself to choose to fast during that time or not. During the third and fourth weeks, I allow myself to break the fast days up or to fast straight through. On the days that I eat, I'm eating low carb and nearly zero sugar. I'm not snacking and eat smaller portions. Drink lots of water and include electrolytes. Get plenty of exercise and good sleep. ❤

If you eat correctly (Whole Foods) and stay active, with adequate sleep. You fast while you sleep. You need to eat to keep metabolism moving. If your body not getting food it’s going to think to store so you have energy for later when your not getting food (fasting) again. And if you need mental clarity then you need more activity during the day (lesson inflation) and longer sleep (keep hormones balanced). Sunlight helps too

@reshape_your_life

I have found 20:4 ADF (alternate day fasting) up to three days per week to be the most effective and sustainable. I scale the number of days up or down throughout the year depending on current body composition and immediate goals.

@ava.artemis

It’s much more important to listen to your body than follow a schedule. I have said for a long time to have irregular periods of fasting and feasting. When I started IF in 2017, I was working out hard and I would do 18 hours IF for ~3 days in a row and then I would be super hungry and eat a bunch. I still do something similar, though I’m in a bit of a healing phase and so my workouts are less frequent and aggressive and I’m focusing more on eating a lot of protein, walking, getting less frequent lighter workouts. But I’ve also worked up to longer fasts and do those every once in a while.
