I've seen this app floating around called Suno lately and my goodness is it impressive! To think you can create entire songs that sound AMAZING with just the typing of a few words. Technology has come to a point now where, in the music production world, people are really scared and don't really know how to react.
Let me tell you how I am going to react: I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing. I will continue to produce music on my own, collab with live artist, and bring you electronic music that comes from the HUMAN SOUL, not from a machine that is trained on an algorithm. I quit using AI video in my productions about 6 months ago, and I will continue to stand against "artists" trying to pass off work a computer did as their own. It's not only thievery, it's fraud.
AI will become the new form of ghost production, something that has always made me super angry but I didn't really speak out against it like I should have. Well, in this new modern era we now have just stepped into, I have another shot to stand up and do the right thing and speak out against generative AI (and yes, SPECIFICALLY generative AI).
I will NEVER use generative AI in my music. Ever. Why? It's the equivalent of the "no talent backdoor" to get in on the music industry. To type in a few words and have a whole ass song in minutes seems amazing to those who don't know how to produce. It's especially dangerous in the electronic music world too, as you can pass of any of these songs Suno creates as your own (because they are done /really/ well!).
I have been told in the past that I have a unique sound. People can tell it's MY music when I play it. I used to want to sound like everyone else (you know, that super commercial sound that is on so many other labels) until I realized that I have a UNIQUE sound and it WORKS on the dancefloor! I am now embracing this to the n'th degree, and this, my friends, is what will make me stand apart from AI "art."
Can AI replicate my specific sound? Probably. But if it DOES and the song comes from another name, you'll know it's not a Theology remix, but just AI and it's thievery and fraud.
So here's to the future of music... and if I find out you are using GENERATIVE AI (not AI to like rip a vocal or a sample or something) to "create" music and pass it off as your own, I'm going to call you out. Until you are caught, enjoy living the life of a fraud!
Sincerely, -The New Theology who is now going to say his opinions and not worry about it ruffling feathers anymore. Yes, I'm the mental health guy, but sometimes some tough love is required in life.
