I think realism is a valuable skill that can enhance your artwork. However, it usually isn't that interesting to look at because it doesn't take any creativity, which I think is the most valuable part of art

I think realism is cool and good to have but for me some of the most creative Artistry is cartooning

I think it's not bad to learn realism to get good at flex, if that makes sence. Artists like Picasso, Dali and Magritte did paint realistic before going all wild with surealism and abstract. But ofcourse not necessary if you want just have a fun hobby like I do.
