It really, really, really depends. If I'm troubleshooting, as to the point as possible. If I'm watching for pleasure then probably 10ish. It also depends on the video's pace. I can watch a 10 minute video with good pacing. I'm gone after 2 if the pacing is garbo and I can get the information elsewhere.

I just wanted to say thank you for polling your audience with this. Too many YouTubers just make big format changes trying to "work the algorithm", and end up pushing away their fans.

Firstly, I'd just like to say thank you for your great videos. I've had my 3d printer for less than a month, and have turned to your videos the most since getting it. Regarding the video length, I think your shorter videos work well for a particular topic (up to 10 mins) . Those have helped a lot. I think longer ones would be useful for the more complex stuff (up to 20 mins).

It really depends but I really really dislike long intros and fluff that I have to scrub through. I get the 10 minute thing for ad $ but that being said it really depends. I really enjoy in depth long videos too it just depends on what it’s about

Weekdays: 5-8 ; Weekends 10-15 ; CNC Kitchen videos: 3rd morning of a 4 day weekend with coffee and a bagel.

Each video is different in my view. There should be never “fluff”. If it is a quick tip, then it will be communicated in 3 minutes. If it needs 7 minutes, cutting shorter would leave important stuff out. Some topics need more than 10. I RARELY see anything so deep in 3D Printing that actually gets longer than 20 minutes (not saying there could not be… but usually it happens when it is poorly edited).

10-15 if I'm relaxing and enjoying a topic, 5-8 if I'm desperately trying to fix my sprite extruder.

I think indepth is good, 10-15 mins, but it's often the format that causes me to lose interest in informative videos. My attention span is 3 to 5 minutes, so if I don't get the answer by then, I often leave. I'd suggest starting out by stating the issue and the fix or summary of most important points; get to the point and don't load it with too much backstory because the title was what caught my attention. This should satisfy most people who came because of the title. After that, in the same video, go indepth for the people who want to know more. In the end, summarize important stuff. Also, don't forget the chapter markers. When I'm watching a video about a list of stuff but then discover that there aren't chapters, I often lose respect and will likely lose interest. For example, while watching a video about "Top ten [X]," after a few minutes, I'll start trying to skip ahead to the next ones until I find one that interests me.

I don't care about length, primarily. I care about completeness of coverage. I only care when it gets over an hour because I have to schedule that in.

Most half hour TV shows have about. 15-20 minutes of actual content without comercials, intros, and credits. That's plenty for most online content. Hour long shows have about 45 minutes of content. You go over that, it better be really great content. That said most of what I watch online is 10-20 minutes.

15 minutes is always good for me. Especially if I'm at work watching on my break which is 15 minutes.

I never understood why the length of the video is so important. Sometimes there is so much information or actual content that the video have to be of a certain length to cover everything, if this is the case it is wrong to leave info out just to stick to a certain length of video. I also hate that the info is spread across several videos just to keep the duration of each video under a certain length, you watch one part, then unable to find the next part.. I often find long videos that is interesting to me, but that I do not have time to watch them at that moment, I add them to my watch later queue and watch them when I have more time. However, a lot of people like to hear themselves talk, and make 5 minutes of actual useful content into an hour long torture of a video because of so much nonsense and non-relevant stuff, maybe spending the first ten minutes to talk about the quality of the bloody packaging.. So to sumerize, make the videos long enough to allow room for all the content, but keep them free of nonsense so that they do not become longer than necessary. I am not criticizing you or complaining about your videos, just explaining what I mean.. And youtubes algorithms will never work correctly. Just because I don't watch the video the very moment it was released, does not mean I don't find it interesting, it could just as well mean I don't have time to watch or there is other videos that are equally interesting, I am watching them both, I just cannot watch them simultaneously.. So if you go only by the algorithms, the quality of the channel will probably suffer and loose views/subscribers in the long run..

Off topic: I can't stand content creators giving an 'optional' Spanish title to a video just because of my YT language cfg. A good title gives data beyond text, eg the language spoken in the video. Please don't 🙏

10-15, unless the subject is something that really needs longer to do it properly.

I've found, it's mainly Americans who waffle on for aaaaaaaaaggges, going into detail about, why they bought something, where, when and how much, what their friends and relatives thought etc etc etc. Just say what it is, get to the point, thank your viewers and end.

CHEP
I know the topic of a video often determines its success and assuming you are interested in the topic based on thumbnail and title, what is your preferred YouTube video length?
