@masteromeat

Egg has no intrinsic use, but the fact that there's only one in the world gives some emergent uses

@Somejaun

Tbh I’m fine with the egg being just a trophy

The egg is a trophy, a singular item to show you beat the final boss and was added over a decade ago. The echo shard requires you to go to a very dangerous place and to get a very niche material for a very niche item. Worst of all, it was added relatively recently.

Echo shard should be used as a brewing material for potions of silence, which muffle walking/eating sounds for exploring the deep dark. And the fact that the shards can only be found in the deep dark means its not possible to fully circumvent the challenge. Thats just my idea.

Having an item like the Dragon Egg that doesnt have any fuction, and where the player gets to come up with their own idea of what to do with it is actually quite interesting imo. Minecraft is all about creativity after all, the block fits quite well

Echo shards are a late game item used for something useful only to beginners (as experienced players will usually just know where they died) and that's it. I've seen an idea on youtube somewhere (don't remember from who) that they could be used for an xp vial where you can basically store you xp and open the vial to get the levels back, I feel like this is a very good idea considering the connection of sculk and experience

Mojang: This is a trophy you get from beating the game! Builders: L A M P

I still remember young me thinking the dragon egg meant I could hatch a baby ender dragon and keep it as a pet, and was utterly disappointed when I surrounded it with 30+ torches and nothing happened lol. the happy ghast makes me think it's not impossible something like that might be added tho...

Glow ink sac has uses for Builds, by extension so does Nautilus shells with Conduits. Dragon egg has no “use” but acts as a trophy. Also can be used in builds. Echo shards have a singular use, being an item that’s already invalidated use-wise by the time it’s available in game.

@sabuguinhoC

Fun-fact, the dragon egg is programed in a way that makes it fly to the void sometimes with no warning

@TheyFrNamedMeBen

I think the egg is fine as a trophy and it can be used to respawn the dragon, glow ink sacs are also only used for 2 things and while neon signs are cool, glow item frames are barely any different from regular ones

@khuraldai69

Dragon egg was always meant to be just a fancy trophy, conduits are useful of you're spending a lot of time underwater, glow ink is decent for decoration (even tho I think glowstone should be used for its purpose). I still can't see the point of the recovery compass. The fact that it drops on death makes it completely useless. And why the hell is it craftable instead of being found in chests? I suspect the echo shards were supposed to have more uses that were scrapped just like half of the update they got added in, because I refuse to believe any developer would want to add a new item this trash

@AsgardAsgard-u8u

Atleast you can make recovery compass with echo shards the dragon egg is literally pointless

@VUSHERMAN

The shell is the most useful here

@BrineyConsumption63

Okay, the egg is a status symbol, echo shards are useful for people without keep inventory, glow ink sacs are great for decor, but nautilus shells... most Minecraft players don't know how to make a conduit, let alone the method to make it activate. But granted, for it's niche use, it's great.

@BigMastah79

There is only one Dragon Egg, it should remain a trophy item.

@quinnsmal4975

I picked the egg bc of the amount of effort you go through in order to get it. Is it a cool decoration? Yes, it's a great trophy for beating the dragon. But I feel like it should really do more. Whether it spawns a dragon or you can use it in a crafting recipe doesn't matter. It should have at least 1 use other than being decorative

@jinsoulsscalp

Objectively it’s the egg as it literally has no use. But the point of it is to be a trophy, not something to use. So for actual usefulness it’d have to be glow squid ink

@FoxworthyGames

I think a better version of this question is “Which of these items are the most unjustifiably useless?”, because the Dragon Egg is simply designed to be a cool trophy, and that’s all it ever was. At least the Nautilus Shell and Echo Shard were actually implemented for a purpose, but otherwise serve no role in the game’s ecosystem besides that one specific purpose, and the Echo Shard’s purpose item is basically only useful to low skill early game players not playing on hardcore, despite being obtained in a place where you actively DON’T want to go if that’s the kind of player you are.

Echo shards. There is a ton of them in ancient city and it have only one use. I tbh grab like 5 as trophy/decoration and leave rest
