quick question: what made you subscribe to my channel? and what kinds of videos do you want to see from me?

It’s been a while since I polled my audience, so I just want to gauge what it looks like

@sky_rokit

This is a generic answer but your personality combined with your subject matter. You have a warm confidence and clearly care about the topics you cover. The world needs more of that.

You're a top tier essayist and I try to keep up with all the top tiers in the genre

Deep dives into a bunch of topics in regards to media as a whole backed by a huge amount of reserch; with the odd anime content chucked in. And over the course of the few years I've been subscribed I've noticed the level of quality has gotten better every few months. Keep up the great work.

I followed after seeing the anime randomizer videos, enjoyed the video essays as well. I like your humor and the level of detail you put into scripts

Found you from the fanservice video and thought the quality of that video was high enough I was interested in checking out more of your content. And then you kept putting out banger videos, I like the anime focused ones the most but your video game piracy video and the most expensive film video are 2 of your best

@as7river

The depth of topic. You really dissect what you're talking about, down to excruciating detail. You board tangents swiftly and eloquently but never digress longer than needed. It's like listening to someone talk about something they not just thoroughly enjoy but also have a complete understanding of. To put it simply, I didn't watch anime before, until after I watched your video on waifus and the space western (definitely not after watching your videos on fan service and R34, I swear). You successfully sold me the idea of watching anime. That alone was enough to subscribe. After that, the anime randomizer videos were just gratuitously excellent.

@Surkimus

Watched your anime randomizer videos, thought the premise was very entertaining and your perseverance to sit through some of those was very admirable

Your video game essays. Your comedic writing and tone of your videos is some of the best I've seen. You also put in a ton of research which I appreciate.

I subbed for your fan service video, seeing you explore the topic in such depth to see how it has affected anime across history and not demonize it was very refreshing, that kind of deep dive into topics people are afraid to talk about, like your recent video on Hollywood accounting, are very important and I'm glad you've made them

I think I found you through the Fanservice video. Watching that and hearing the (presumably) well researched history and arguments for and against it drew me in, and your other videos on similar topics like adult animation and video games never fail to make me learn something I didn't know before and frequently encourage me to check out new media that I would have never otherwise found. Your ability to connect a long history and provide examples of a medium's development and significance is fantastic.

I've been a fan for a long time because of your "what ruined" videos, but I also really enjoy your breakdowns of any major animation show or movie. I would actually love to see you do more things about anime the same way you do American cartoons.

@DoktorTaiko

I think my first video was the deep dive into fan service, but I am not 100% certain anymore, because I just binged a bunch more right afterwards. If I had to choose one thing it would probably be the video ideas. The best example is the controller layout video. This is a topic we are all familiar with, yet I know no one that stopped to ask the question of why a controller looks like that before and still I know no one that didn't say "oh that's interesting" when talking about the video. The topic selection is just this exact sweet spot of interesting questions about familiar topics. However, that's by far not the only thing I enjoy about the videos. First, I enjoy that this is a channel with Longform videos still designed to be watched actively. After the recent shift towards videos as background noise many creators that made 1h videos have turned these into 4h videos, which is unfortunately just too long for me to watch in a single sitting and doesn't integrate into my day anymore. I like your video length and upload frequency, as I always get high quality videos which I can enjoy in one sitting on the couch after a long day with every upload being a highlight. Next, I think the coverage of adult topics such as the history of rule34 and the adult animation video in a more mature fashion are very interesting. Adult topics invite to inappropriate gags, shaming, or other weird reactions, but your style feels like it's actually informing me about these topics and I personally prefer that a lot over the "did you know there is this crazy freaky thing" style. Thirdly, I really enjoy the video structure. The videos always ask an interesting question and then go through the topic in an arc fashion showing not only the answer to the question but also the reason for it and interesting history sections. I think that's really well made and gives much more value than just the short answer and is much more memorable. Additionally, the videos seem to be well researched. During the video the old interviews that you read, Books you got, or interviews you did yourself always convey that you are actually interested in the topic and this passion in turn makes me excited for something. Additionally, you go ahead and question a lot of common misbeliefs that spread by mouth say before. The aspect that is hardest to quantity is the general vide and humor. I don't have anything in particular to say about this, I just enjoy the vibe and humor of the videos. Lastly, I am obviously biased, but I like the topics. I also watch anime, play video games, and fall into the same age category as you, so the topics just fall close to me. I also like the topics such as the newest one about the expensive movies, but I started the channel for anime/gaming topics and stayed for the video style. Hope that helps. It's unfortunate that the most recent video didn't get as many views as it deserved. I really enjoy your content, hope that you find the best way to have a successful channel and videos you enjoy making, and I will stick with it to see your journey! Anime coverage and my topics

I initially saw your channel through the piracy video, but I really enjoyed your videos about controller buttons and arcades, and I found the adult animations video was to also be very interesting. It feels like you research the topics well and your videos are able to provide at least something of value to nearly everyone who'd watch them. I personally enjoy how very thorough you are with topics.

@YOUTY209

I forget what video I initially subbed for. I stay for the absurdity, quirk, and philosophical discussion, regardless of the topic (the video game piracy video was great!)

@Kaktanternak

Pure quality of your videos, whatever they might be about. You do your research and it shows. It's always interesting to see how certain concepts, trends, and patterns came to be. To see them deconstructed, explained and to know where they originated from. Even in your "I watched random anime" videos you research every show and methodically explain why it does/doesn't work. It's just enjoyable. And comedy is always 11/10, your jokes always land.

I got introduced to your channel with the anime randomizer videos, and stayed around for the media history lessons. You're like the last person Id go to for takes on anime, but I love the history stuff and your personality

I love seeing people talk about series that are obscure and never get brought up most of the time, it's really interesting!

@stevesketches

Your nuanced, humorous essays on sensitive topics, particularly around adult subject matter in media, have been very helpful to me personally. This channel has played a small but important role in pulling me out of my puritanical perspective of adult art and those that consume it. I've gained a bit more empathy, a bit more open-mindedness, and even a bit more freedom to fully express myself in my own art as well. Keep making dope shit, you're an inspiration man.

The quality of research and your ability to express it in a video are great. I watch regardless of the topic because of the quality of research you put into your vids.
