So the motherboard is cooked, more or less. It's also apparently a particularly old model? Not too surprising, when having bought a refurbished one, but that unfortunately means that getting a new mobo isn't really a fiscally viable option. So...new computer again it is.
I've picked out one that's a refurbished as well, but from a different refurbish seller, a different original maker, and actually has somewhat better specs. The issue, of course, is that I won't be able to order it until March 18th, at the soonest with the finances. We're working on what to do to accelerate that timeline, and your help could be part of that, either by sharing around videos I already have up to get more ad revenue coming in or through direct support. I'll see about setting up memberships and/or redoing the Patreon as well, but part of the reason I don't want to do that is because I don't currently have anything to offer until the situation is fixed, and I don't want people paying to get something from me that could still take a month or two.
Which brings me to the real reason behind this update: Boon Cannon 62. The video was originally intended to come out on Super Bowl Sunday because of that date's relevance to the subject matter. That, obviously, is very likely to no longer happen. I actually did consider canceling the video altogether because at that point it would no longer be either timely *or* done in a time period relevant to the subject...
But I reread the script and realized there was a bunch in there that I really wanted to make sure I brought up, and there was really no other place to put these things. It'll put this commentary at close to a year in development without having the gall to be 8 hours long to make up for it, but I think it should still work. The extra time after the new computer comes in should also account for any lost progress on the project that may come about, as I had with switching computers last time during the making of Boon Cannon 61.
I may still decide to go in different routes with this, but that's where my mindset is right now. And most of this is not necessarily the worst case scenario per se, but more of the worst *realistic* case. And hopefully this worse realistic case isn't what winds up being *the* case, but that's up to other people on if it is or not.
