Formed in Manchester in 1976 The Fall - Music was led by founder Mark E. Smith, who remained the group's constant member for over 40 years. Throughout its history, nearly 50 core members have come and gone, with numerous guest musicians contributing at various times. By 2018, the band had released 32 studio albums, over 50 singles, and nearly 100 live albums, compilations, and box sets.
The group’s music has gone through several stylistic changes over the years, but is often characterised by an abrasive guitar-driven sound and frequent use of repetition, always underpinned by Smith’s distinctive vocals and often cryptic lyrics.
