Depends on if it is forever or not. $50k is too little to survive off of in Cali

I currently make 150 but would rather make less to enjoy what i was doing. I use to love what i do for my job but it has become a job.

I would put a time qualifier in there. For example, would do either one for x amount of time.

Depends, if making $50k a year working for myself doing something I enjoy can eventually surpass a $100k/year corporate job then the answer is obviously following my passion lol.

My 50k answer is based on the thought that I’d be able to make more in time, if I couldn’t scale my biz to make more money then I shouldn’t be in business 😂 but on the real, you spend a great deal of your waking hours at work, and I’d way rather enjoy those hours and save my money and delay gratification and keep putting my money and energy into my passion/biz that will eventually bring in more money. As someone who has built a 6 figure business in less than a year, I can absolutely say this is doable and even though I work way more than 40 hours for now, I wouldn’t change it for the world

I work 7 months for myself and take 5 months off and travel. Right now I’m in South America: Ecuador Peru Bolivia and Chile. Money goes a lot farther down here than in the states

50k/year easily. Trust your ability, learn, adapt and your hunger to succeed will multiply that figure ten fold.

A few years dedicated to the 9-5 job, living on half (or as little as possible) and save the extra to invest, pay off a home, etc. Then quit and live my 50k work on my own time job.

50k in most parts of the country is not enough to live on comfortably, especially if you have a family.

Work for myself. Family important. I have young kids. More freedom and more headspace. 😁

The only reason I would take the 50k a year would be if I could work remotely in another country like Colombia, Thailand somewhere where my money strech more and allows me to live better than in Canada

100K and spend the other 50k being happy after work 🤣🤣🤣 joking, happiness is pricel

100k definitely so I can have the funds to invest and develop a business on the side and work hard on it after work, so I can retire early and work for no one after.

people villainize 9-5s too much. At least a 9-5 is a 9-5. Working for yourself is often working to death on nights and evenings and stressing about decisions

I recently got a 9-5 job (i don’t make 100k though) and it’s not even bad. Consistent schedule, consistent paycheck, benefits and job security to name a few perks. I will gladly sacrifice 40 hours a week to be able to live comfortably, buy what i want and need, and still save for the future responsibly.

50k if I'm happy and not working 9-5 hours. 100k if it's the same hours. I'll get over it with the extra money lol.

The numbers are too low. Even $100k is not enough today. $50k is poverty.

I chose the $100K because I’d need to know what the work/life balance is at $50K. If the work is just alright, hopefully it’s not too bad to do at least for a few years

Serious question: Would you rather make $100k/year at a 9-5 job that is just alright, or $50k/year working for yourself doing something you enjoy? Comment your reasons below too!
