Just a survey. Which do you prefer as a wardrobe staple?

My “staple” is blue, mostly navy. I only like a few shades of green, so red would trump green. It also goes really well with all the blues I have. I’m trying to change my sewing from buying fabric I love and then not much goes together, to making an actual wardrobe of a couple of main colors/garments, and then making things that will go with it all.

@SharmClucas

I have very little red or green in my wardrobe, but I think green would be easier to build a wardrobe around for the style I enjoy the most. Sage or emerald green are my favorites to wear.

Green feels more natural/woodsy to me so I prefer it, but I think red is a lot of fun and can look great with gothic looks :)) hard to pick tbh!

@DamePerdita

Depends utterly on the specific shade.

Green is my favorite color I am bias. However, I have been obsessed with this red twill fabric on moods, and I want to make some 1950 style shorts with them for next summer.

Depends on the shade. I wear a lot of wine, soft berry, and soft pink - which I guess would be "red". But I never wear anything that could be described as "true red" because it is overwhelming on my skintone. Ditto for green. I love a soft mint, sage, muted seagreen or a pine (which works surprisingly well) but not grass or kelly green. I guess red, since I wear the pinks and wines more and I consider wine and very light "nude" pink neutrals

@firstaidfaery

they are my two favorite colors but I feel like green carries better across the seasons and goes with more other colors. also there’s many shades of green that I like but more specific reds, so it’s more versatile to me

Green in spring and summer, red in fall winter! It's almost comical the way my wardrobe is nearly a perfect 50/50 split between the two. But green creeps into fall/winter and red doesn't, so green.

@Tvianne

Loved green and purple since I was a kid.

Red is probably the color I am second or third most comfortable with. Behind black and maybe white. The closest I have to green is a single dark teal dress.

I actually really like muted or earthy reds WITH my greens, lol. One of my favorite outfits right now is a "red" shirt with my green paperbag pants; the red is old and faded though so it probably reads more like a pink? But I wear green with everything else in my wardrobe: yellow, purple, pink, cream, etc. I only wear red with green (I promise it doesn't look Xmas-y) or denim, so that's why green is the staple for me.

I prefer green for myself and objectively as a color, but red is what I feel is best for most people's wardrobes and I've seen some fantastic wardrobes based around red and blue

Both 💚❤

Both! I literally have both a blue/green side of my wardrobe, and a red side.

Honestly…I love both

I do have quite a few green or khaki pieces in my wardrobe. That said, I LOVE Burgundy red, it suits me and when I find it I buy it...

@sltraxel

For me, green is a color I wear all the time and red feels like something I save for special occasions. Truthfully, I have plenty of both colors in my closet and wear them both frequently.

I'll actually have blue as my primary wardrobe staple, but as a pale-skinned redhead, greens are easier to get to work on me.

The first coat I ever bought myself was a lovely green, the most recent coat is a deep burgundy

Green feels more neutral to me so I wear it more, but I also love red and both colors look so beautiful together as well :)
