I think many Muslims live in places where proper Islamic authority is not present. So the more interesting question is in those circumstances. The shaykh is from Saudi Arabia which has an Islamic system and Alhamdulillah that some places can be good examples of how many things should be. But the world at large is not so simple.

Unfortunately the iman in the local islamic centre in the west acts only by name as the wali and literally does absolutely nothing

The wali can only be from the father’s side, even tho step dad is a mahram he is not a wali because he is not from the og dad’s family

Just go to near Masjid, produce your affidavit of converting(legal documents that states you as Muslim, government attestation certificate), 🆔 proofs, your photo...make yourself among the Masjid's member applying for it, then ask them to help you...this is pure way

I think he is mahram but not wali. He is forbidden from marrying her but is not responsible from her. I think thats is what sheikh is saying

Why couldn't he be her wali iif he's the step father and she came up in the house wih her mother and step father? She would literally be haram for him. Thre Local imam and ruler wouldn't even be that close to her! Where does it state, he couldn't be in such a case? Also this guy tends to always make it difficult for ppl. Why didn't he tell her the man himself who' wants to marry her can be her wali if there is no one else? Personally I think they rely on a lot of opinions and their religion is mixed with the culture of najd and understanding of najdi culture and their shuyookh.

Wrong with due Apology. His Stepfather is an accepted father and Mahram even if the person asking is a female. Don't know Kafir can bear not, but I know step Parents BECOME YOUR Parents! I am thinking to learn about Khalifas who passedus and the handled down Fiqjhs. A famous story of 2 women fight for ie child.
