The Aesthetic City

Dearest subscribers,

We made it - 200,000 beauty-loving subscribers to our channel!

I'm very grateful for this milestone and want to thank you all for supporting us on this journey.

Let's see what the future brings - I've got a lot of ideas for cool videos, and there is plenty of awful things being built, so we're not nearly done yet!

A big cheers to you all,

Ruben

Brilliant. What we don’t defend we lose. How about a video on Milton Keynes - where it went wrong and what it could have been? Or still be with intelligent redevelopment?

Congratulations! I've really enjoyed watching your videos the last year or two. It's so encouraging to see real architects campaigning for a return to beauty in our building. Best wishes to you in both your video making and architectural endeavors!

Yay! πŸŽ‰ also I would be curious to hear your thoughts on the Art Deco inspired Earls Court project in the UK - I watched another video about it and they seem to be keeping aesthetics in mind more than many other super projects, though I wish they’d leaned even more into the art deco aesthetic and maybe more traditional English cottages for the townhomes. But still I think it’s a positive sign

It would be wonderful if communities could form around projects of reinhabiting abandoned villages by restoring and expanding them in coordination with the local municipalities!!

I have an idea. It would be great if you could appear in the videos yourself, so the audience can see you. This would help them connect better with the content and make the videos more engaging. I'm sure producing this type of content would be more challenging, but I think it's worth it. I suggest you give it a try.

@lordsleepyhead

Hi, what do you think of the idea that post-war modernists rejected classicism because the nazi regime glorified historical classical European arcitecture? I mean, I kinda get where they're coming from, but how can we prevent the return to tried and tested traditional architecture becoming a hotbed of crypto-fascist ideology? You may think I'm being overdramatic, but I've actually seen this is a thing that happens, in this political climate now more than ever.
