Yarn as a Second Language

Have you ever crocheted a sweater? What was your experience like?

@sherrig5256

I’ve made a few. One pattern I made for myself and daughters turned out great. The ones I made for the grands turned out great also. However, a couple I made for myself and one for my husband bummed. You have to make sure to account for extra width in the shoulders and upper arms, despite the pattern you may be following.

I crocheted a granny square cardigan for my mother-in-law in the 1980's. I can't imagine it was easy because I really don't crochet now, but she wore it!

I'm working on one now. I had a good start. I put it down. This post reminds me to pick it back up. Thanks

@nekineki37

I've made a few while learning different construction methods and impressed myself by freestyling my latest makes, which shows my growth.

I did one in cotton last year and it bled like mad when I washed it in cold water. Its great to throw over a tank top so I look at the bleeding as "tie dye" accents 🤭

@LoriStoriesAndCrochet

I've crocheted sweaters. Almost every one needed sleeve adjustments 🤣

I’ve made several. The very first one took quite a while since I hadn’t yet learned how to read patterns very well. I kept picking it up and putting it in timeout for months at a time. By the time I finished it, I had gained weight and it didn’t fit. 😂

@htran18

It takes forever and is not a mindless activity like a blanket. I can’t get myself to make another one.
