Good Morning Britain

A new report is urging the Government to treat protest groups such as Just Stop Oil similarly to proscribed terror organisations and there are calls to introduce a stringent ban on 'extreme protest groups'.

So, should protest groups be treated like terror organisations?

Of course the answer is NO! However individuals who break laws WHILE protesting should be arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Anyone who obstructs an arrest should be arrested. And this should be applied to ALL protests not just the ones that the police or government disapprove of.

@80sKitty

Nope, they've already taken most of our rights of freedom away. Don't let them make you believe protesting is the issue. The reason for protests is the issue. You'd soon be annoyed if you weren't able to speak up when something affects you directly.

@drunkenhobo5039

Remember - every single right you have just now was due to somebody protesting for it.

Whilst I don't agree with JSO. what is to stop any government having me arrested if I was any protest, such as protesting against government taxes or minimum wage? it's a slippery slow that we are already on.

@emmamcleod432

Without protesting you would have no rights.

@stevec6427

Absolutely not. This is supposed to be a democracy, people should have a right to protest in opposition to the government. Those who support the suppression of protest should remember we'll probably have a labour government soon and maybe they will want to protest against their policies. I don't care whether I agree with you or not, I support EVERYONE'S right to protest and express themselves.

NO! Terrorism is violence! Anyone blocking a public road should be prosecuted and possibly serve jail time especially if they hold up ambulances however violence, killing, maiming or even damaging property are VERY different things!

Only terror organisations like I De eF should be treated as terror organisations. Also media houses that are supporting genocide should be treated as terrorism aiders. Those who are protesting against death to prevent killing and genocide should be allowed to protest.

@daverobrson7779

If we can’t protest we have nothing. Doesn’t matter the point of the protest. That’s how the people have their say that and voting

Goodbye democracy, goodbye freedom.

@custossecretus5737

When you keep reducing the publics ability to peacefully protest, by what other means do you leave the public to protest?

Absolute fascism from the Gvt. Tories out!

@kingpig8732

There should be very very clear boundaries, and I do not trust the tories or labour to set out these boundaries. Both of them are far too authoritarian

@KrunchyJD

So it now will be illegal to protest. That's great for democracy.

No way!!! People have the right to stand up for their rights or protest against all the wrongs. Just another way to keep us normal folk quiet.

@Matick-

It's actually quite scary, so many people voted yes. You would be voting for you're own suppression
