B- Mask

Alright, let's get the ball rolling- I'll be doing a little follow up video now the first Thunderbolts episode is out. AMA about it and I'll give a short answer here (or on twitter) and maybe put a longer take of the FAQ's in the vid!

Why was the video so good?

Might be a month late but I genuinely enjoyed how you essentially re-caught lightning in a bottle. Wasn't big on FF till your video opened my eyes on how good they were, and now you've got me fixated on the classic thunderbolts in a similar manner XD. I honestly want a fake out cartoon that's advertised as the avengers, but then they die at the end of the first ep only to be replaced by the thunderbolts. It's a shame the live action movie doesn't seem to have the same charm as what you've made. Still though I genuinely loved what you've made here and hope you make more things like it. God bless dude!

You gestured towards Astro City as one of the reasons Kurt Busiek was such a perfect guy to tell exactly this kind of story. And having read Astro City but not Thunderbolts it was such a blast to watch your video and see the obvious fingerprints both works ended up having on eachother! But it also made me super curious to find out what your favorite Astro City stories are if you have them? (Standing ovation to you and all your collaborators on this project btw!)

@DrMadd

What were your biggest challenges when it came to creating the motion comic sequences and how did you overcome them?

@Oretani

1 - Will all the Sentry stuff have an eventual payoff? 2 - Do you have an ETA for the next episode? And btw the entire thing was incredible! I'm really looking forward to the next one

I just want to say that I haven't watched everthing... YET. Because with just the beggining you really sold me in, and you know what? I'll read all of Thunderbolts first and then watch your video! The way you made the intro was just that good LOL

I loved the animation! Felt like the cutscenes in Sly Cooper AND the animation in the Marvel Super Heroes cartoon (Did I spot the overused Zemo fist shake in there? Excellent!) And the music! My question is about your music choices: Did you plan on having your soundtrack build off your previous videos to create continuity for your fans, or was it just adding what you liked that fit, or a bit of both?

Hey B-Mask, loved the Thunderbolts video! I find that most comic book discourse online is too broad to meaningfully convey anything or too much of synopsis to inspire further reading. I think your current method threads the needle and gives these comics a lot of life. I have a couple of questions: 1. What’s your methodology in segmenting the videos? I know that there was a lot of ground to cover in this video alone between individual character histories (namely Zemo’s) along with the Onslaught Saga before even hitting the book itself. 2. Loved how much the VAs were able to emote this time around. Any recommendations on how to work with VAs to get such strong performances? 3. Off-topic of the video, but what were your thoughts on the last couple seasons of Frasier now that it’s out? I know in your last AMA you expressed interest in the new cast and setup, though confusion as to why they didn’t bring back the writing staff. Watching the season itself, I feel the same way.

1) Loved how you "chaptered" this video, especially the interludes. How many more videos should we expect from this saga? 2) I know you loving making outfits for your avatar/variants of your profile. Is there a version of you -- B-Mask -- running around looking like Kevin Feige???

How did you manage to recruit so many incredible artists and animators to bring this project to life?

So my friend insisted we watch a 2 and 1/2 our video on some comic book group I’d never heard of, I sighed, and figured “alright we will watch 20 minutes, I’ll complain and we’ll go do something else.” 2 and 1/2 hours later the video ended and I’ll could think was: Wait, what happened next! Excellent video can’t wait for more.

What are your favorite Thunderbolts series post-OG? Any more recent ones you would recommend? Also as many others have asked, I’m curious how far you will go in the video series.

I got two: 1. Be honest, how long have you been itching to use that Misifts song? 2. What tips do you have when it comes to giving strong voice direction? Also, lemme just say again that this was an impressive feat - you've come a hell of a long way from the Sly trilogy retrospective in terms of presentation and production value on these videos and for that, I salute thee. Can't wait to be suckered into reading more T-Bolts come the next part.

@youngcrespo

I got a couple! 1. What's your favorite quote from this first video? 2. Is there a character from this first roster that you think would add to the MCU version of the Thunderbolts (assuming they were introduced in the movie) or do none of them work well apart from the comics version of the group? 3. Random Q, but are you a Marvel SNAP player by chance? I couldn't help but notice the Zola art you picked is from the game and my silly game brain has zeroed into the possibility of you being into the thing I also like 😂 And congrats on a very good job! I've been spreading the word of this video for everyone that'll hear it, comics fan or not! (btw, love Kanis as a recurring VA for your stuff. don't tell anyone, but he's my favorite

I loved the video, it's got me on a kick reading the issues of Thunderbolts you adapted and talked about in it. I want to ask you if you feel Zemo's Citizen V persona had more hints to his true nature than at first glance. One thing I don't remember you mentioning was his sword. He wields a rapier while acting as Citizen V, which I thought was a reference to the popularity of fencing in the German high class in the early 1900s, which keeps his superiority complex since it was for the elite of the time. Just like his father.

First of all, I absolutely love the video, this and the fantastic Four video you did made me completely fall in love for both of them. Second, will there ever be a soundtrack playlist like what you did for the Fantastic Four video? If not, what's the song for the opening montage part of the video that sounds like a Megaman X track? Thank you very much!

@TheNukaColaMan10

Would Zemo been happier or my content if he just…stayed as citizen V? Like he had power, wealth, respect, adoration, literally everything he wanted, GIVEN to him.

@Crash-rk7zi

1) Superhero works you'd recommend to a beginner in the genre? Not just comics, but shows, movies, games, etc. 2) Will the series tackle your fabled Spider Man takes or do you want to make it a separate thing? Keep up the good work!

What’s your favorite Thunderbolt design? Also what are your thoughts on the movie?

@therobbiebandswho

Are you gonna touch on the Thunderbolts after Civil War? Because there's one bouncy individual (well, he was a little emo then) that joins the team at that time, and he's my second favorite Marvel character, so I'd love to get at least a mention for him, if not a full-on segment
