It's easy to get used to what those 3 aliens could do and forget that tennis players are actually humans and have bad moments from time to time.

We've (understandably) forgotten that even top ranked players can be vulnerable. Carlos has just shown that more than we're used to

Goffin played a great game, people forget how good goffin really is

The problem isn’t about him losing, but the way he is losing. I see the following issues in his game: 1. Over reliance on athleticism. Instead of putting the ball away at the first available opportunity, he makes a passive shot and allows the opponent to get back. His athleticism lets him still win the point 70% of the times, but that’s a lot of energy wasted for entertainment. 2. Lack of plan B. You can’t play like Wimbledon 24 final on all days. Rather, you will only be able to hit at 80% on most days and sometimes at 50%. But then you need to have a plan B to somehow hang around and avoid getting broken. Carlitos hasn’t been able to do this at all. 3. Lack of a clear game plan. Not every opponent is a Djokovic or Sinner. Most of them have obvious weaknesses. Do the analysis and come up with a plan and execute it with utmost determination.

Can’t expect him to win everything

Every time he loses to Novak he goes through a drought of winning. Cincinnati 2023, Olympics 2024, AO 2025. He always struggles for a month or two after that happens.

There are ups and downs in sport. Nobody is perfect 🤔

Man. He needed to win while Sinner wasn't there to stop him. It's not going well.

Carlos is okay, he needs a rest with his family and then get to the clay. Tennis tour is brutal. He’s young, probably a bit homesick. Let’s go Carlos 💪

Carlos, you are human and if you are getting burnt out it's quite ok. You will lose some, however your wins are more and also much more significant. The world expects too much of you.

I don’t necessarily think there’s much ‘going on’ if you think about who he’s lost to this year. He lost to Novak Djokovic in AO (10 time champion, in case we forget it), he lost to Draper who is in red hot form and went on to win Indian Wells, and he lost to a very good player in David Goffin. Nothing to be ashamed of, if anything it gives him more prep for the clay court season.

People forget he’s only 21 and that Olympic final hit him hard

Just cuz he lost to Goffin doesn't make him a bad player. Tennis is a difficult sport, mentally and physically. Even Federer lost to a player who was only in top 500.

Las comparaciones son odiosas.Y los periodistas enseguida han empezado a compararle con Nadal.Ellos son los culpables.Necesita tiempo, serenidad y paciencia.Sera muy grande.

He wanted to win Gold for his country just like the soccer team did. He feels he has let his country down and the soccer team as deep inside he may have promised to himself to win gold as well. I don’t think he has recovered from that yet. He has as a deep love for 🇪

I guess it could be the looming shadow of the end of the Big 3 or Big 4, where most people's expectation is to see another wave of almost total domination from a few players constantly performing far better than the rest. In a way, that has happened with Alcaraz and Sinner (last year's only GS champions), but expecting to have a new wave exactly like the previous one might not be an immediate thing to happen again and in the same way. In that same vein, after the Olympics and Rafa's retirement, it's possible that now there's an awareness at the back of Carlos' mind about being expected to become "the new Spanish phenom", and I would guess that's an added pressure to represent his country well. I don't know. But then again, some days are great and some days aren't. And the Big 4 players also had their fair share of downs even at their respective peaks, so Carlos' situation might not be as concerning as we make it to be sometimes.

He’s 21 FFS. He already has 4 slams and an end of year world number 1 ranking. Look at Federer, Nadal, Novak and Murray at the same age. He’ll come good again. Just got to stay fit and motivated. Usual media panic stoking up the “what’s wrong?” Nothing he’s going through a blip it’s part and parcel of working it out!
