Den of the Drake

I was debating whether or not I should make this post, since I was unsure if I was my place to do so.
But after much thought I believe it's the right thing to do.

If you are celebrating the murder of Charlie Kirk, you are sick. Full stop.
I will not soften my words for you because you have shown yourself to be a person unworthy of anything other than scorn and I don't want you to feel welcome in my community.

I am not aligned with any political party and I agree with almost nothing Charlie stood for.

But he absolutely had the right to say it.
He wasn't a politician.
He wasn't a billionaire shitting on the heads of those below him.
He was a man who would talk to anyone about anything, regardless of the hatred they had for him.

And he was murdered for it.

Political violence and political extremisim is wrong and I despise that we've been encouraged to pretend otherwise for the sake of not upsetting the very people who consistently call for violence.
I refuse to stay silent anymore, because I fear the voices of the rational are being drowned out by the voices of the psychotic and I want to make my stance CRYSTAL CLEAR.

I don't care what backwards and demented logic you employ to justify celebrating a father being murdered in front of his children. I don't care about the "whataboutisms" you like to throw up when you're rightfully called out for your psychopathic behavior— behavior that you only feel comfortable inflicting upon the world because you can hide behind anonymity like a coward. Murder is the ultimate act of hatred and is wrong under ANY circumstance, regardless of religion, race, or beliefs and I WILL NOT act like that's controversial to say.

Many people have shown their true colors in recent days, and when someone shows you who they are, you should believe them. The fact that creators like Hasan and Destiny, can openly say, "Conservatives should be afraid of being killed" and "let the streets run red with their capitalist blood," and still have a platform is sickening.
Free speech is one thing, encouraging people to murder others for exercising their right to speech is a completely different animal.

If you feel the need unsubscribe or label me as something I'm not because of this post, go ahead.
I know that you're the type of person who would celebrate if myself or my loved ones were murdered, and the respect of a person like that is worthless. I am not afraid of you, no matter how much you'd like me to be.

However, if you are one of the vast majority of people from all sides who have chosen to publically extend on olive branch, I would like to sincerely thank you. These are dark times that we live in. Scary times. It's incredibly difficult to keep a light shining inside yourself, nevermind choosing to shine a light for others.

I fundamentally believe in the goodness of people and our ability to come together and reject evil. I may just be a small-time story YouTuber, but from the bottom of my heart I thank those who fight back against the spread of indiscrimate hatred through acts of compassion.

I don't believe that YouTubers have a "responsibilty to use their audience correctly" or anything like that. Often times that's just an facade used by people who want to spread the very rhetoric that got us here in the first place.

But if I can use my influence for anything, I want to use it to remind people that most people are good and choose to lead lives filled with compassion and love for others, regardless of their differences. Please don't forget that.

Back to your regularly scheduled cringe.
