Den of the Drake

I was debating whether or not I should make this post, since I was unsure if I was my place to do so.
But after much thought I believe it's the right thing to do.

If you are celebrating the murder of Charlie Kirk, you are sick. Full stop.
I will not soften my words for you because you have shown yourself to be a person unworthy of anything other than scorn and I don't want you to feel welcome in my community.

I am not aligned with any political party and I agree with almost nothing Charlie stood for.

But he absolutely had the right to say it.
He wasn't a politician.
He wasn't a billionaire shitting on the heads of those below him.
He was a man who would talk to anyone about anything, regardless of the hatred they had for him.

And he was murdered for it.

Political violence and political extremisim is wrong and I despise that we've been encouraged to pretend otherwise for the sake of not upsetting the very people who consistently call for violence.
I refuse to stay silent anymore, because I fear the voices of the rational are being drowned out by the voices of the psychotic and I want to make my stance CRYSTAL CLEAR.

I don't care what backwards and demented logic you employ to justify celebrating a father being murdered in front of his children. I don't care about the "whataboutisms" you like to throw up when you're rightfully called out for your psychopathic behavior— behavior that you only feel comfortable inflicting upon the world because you can hide behind anonymity like a coward. Murder is the ultimate act of hatred and is wrong under ANY circumstance, regardless of religion, race, or beliefs and I WILL NOT act like that's controversial to say.

Many people have shown their true colors in recent days, and when someone shows you who they are, you should believe them. The fact that creators like Hasan and Destiny, can openly say, "Conservatives should be afraid of being killed" and "let the streets run red with their capitalist blood," and still have a platform is sickening.
Free speech is one thing, encouraging people to murder others for exercising their right to speech is a completely different animal.

If you feel the need unsubscribe or label me as something I'm not because of this post, go ahead.
I know that you're the type of person who would celebrate if myself or my loved ones were murdered, and the respect of a person like that is worthless. I am not afraid of you, no matter how much you'd like me to be.

However, if you are one of the vast majority of people from all sides who have chosen to publically extend on olive branch, I would like to sincerely thank you. These are dark times that we live in. Scary times. It's incredibly difficult to keep a light shining inside yourself, nevermind choosing to shine a light for others.

I fundamentally believe in the goodness of people and our ability to come together and reject evil. I may just be a small-time story YouTuber, but from the bottom of my heart I thank those who fight back against the spread of indiscrimate hatred through acts of compassion.

I don't believe that YouTubers have a "responsibilty to use their audience correctly" or anything like that. Often times that's just an facade used by people who want to spread the very rhetoric that got us here in the first place.

But if I can use my influence for anything, I want to use it to remind people that most people are good and choose to lead lives filled with compassion and love for others, regardless of their differences. Please don't forget that.

Back to your regularly scheduled cringe.

@Addie-v8l

I didn't think my dnd fix creator would be the one to make the best speech I've seen on this topic, but I couldn't agree more

I can understand not feeling bad about someone dying, but outright celebrating it? That's fucked up, no matter who they are.

A reminder for those who can't read the Constitution, public speech that tries to incite violence or harm to others, or one's property, is not protected under the first amendment! So no, your celebrations for his death and trying to add names to a hypothetical hit list, are not protected by free speech!

A friend showed me a (I think) TikTok and the person says “No one deserves to die like that. Not even Charlie Kirk.” Which sums up my feelings. I’m not sobbing that he’s gone. But I can’t be against the death penalty and against gun violence and be happy about his death.

I knew I liked you, Drake. I already loved your RPG stories, now I know you are to be respected!

How can a dragon who hoards cringe be able to belt out the most based of speeches yet?

Damn Drake, I don't think anyone could have put it in more perfect words. Thank you for standing up to this & speaking your mind.

This is a much needed light in the darkness from someone I wouldn’t have expected. I thank you, sir. It’s weird that we have to thank people for being basic human beings nowadays, but here we are. Don’t let the sickness of these evil people harden your heart against compassion

Very well put Drake. I wish more people had this sentiment. Unfortunately, the hyper political climate has made it so that even being neutral on certain topis is seen as a betrayal. I wish that wasn't the case.

God bless, another sane voice. The enemy is not the democrats nor the republicans. But the extremists on both, it will be the radical of one side that will be our downfall.

You know, during dark days such as these I turn to the great American philosopher Mr. Rogers. "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping." I have seen profound hate during this past week, yet the love and compassion that has followed this senseless tragedy from across the globe is drowning out those vile responses and we should never forget that there are so many more people out their who mourn the death of a complete stranger whom many have never met personally, who pray for a family they have no relation to because ots the right thing to do . I would like all of us to keep our loved ones close right now and cherish the time we have with them. Thank you Drake for being honest and for calling out the BS both in the TRRPG space and this. Can I borrow your kobold minion for a little bit, after this week I could use a hug.

I'm German and have no real horse in the race here. I wasn't shocked nor happy when Charlie Kirk was shot, because it was the first time I heard of him. The more I learned about him the more I knew I would have disliked him and his political beliefs and I thought it was kind of ironic how he died (not funny, though). But I never celebrated his death. I showed the video of his murder to my friend and told her that his wife and kids were in the audience and she was as appalled by that as I was. Because even though we both would have disliked him if we had known him, we both agreed that this was unjustified. If not for him (thought it was, like Drake said: murder is always wrong), than for his traumatized children.

Thank you, cartoon dragon that collects cringe. Times like these really make me wish common sense were more common.

It's nice to hear reason when it comes to this whole thing. Far too many people are okay with the concept of taking out a person simply for having a different opinion... really disturbing we got to this point.

It's a great reassurance to know that most people are able to use basic empathy towards people that they disagree with like Charlie. The people celebrating Charlie's death, have less empathy than Krud the troll and Grimey combined.

It’s good to see a DnD creator that’s not unhinged, I had to unfollow so many people I thought were awesome creators because they were awful people

I agree, and I don't think it should be odd to say that political assassination is not something we should he normalizing. I did not know about Charlie Kirk before all of this, and looking back at him I definately disagreed with him on a LOT, but murder, then praising said murder, is just going to encourage a LOT more violence from and to all sides...

i’m black, same age as him just about and would consider myself libertarian or moderate or center. i don’t like most the man said but i very much worry about people who are cheering for what happened to him. this is a slippery slope into erosion of rights “for safety” and it worries me that no one cheering is seeing that. you don’t have to like it, you don’t have to agree, but free speech is free speech. and our rights are slowly being chipped away at and no one seems to be concerned… anyway, thank you so much for speaking on what you believe.
