Hello Future Me

Firstly, I am doing a Q&A over in the discord at 9AM EST! (discord.gg/vvMBpZa6Xh join here!) After arriving in the USA, I am endeavouring to try as many cultural foods as possible. First up: cheese balls. Also maple butter. Corndogs. Deep dish pizza. What else do I need to try? I have been told I need to "go to Bucees but don't look up what it is".

Definitely need to check out some bbq depending what region you are in. Our food varies so much by region, I would just suggest going with whatever the area you are in is famous for.

The best description for american food ive ever heard is "imagine in all 50 states, someones foreign grandmother visited and made absolutely amazing cultural food from their country and us Americans have been trying to replicate what she made from memory. Its not accurate, but it has soul."

Apple and Pumpkin pies for sure. Honestly anything that could be considered a thanksgiving dish. Also southern style biscuits and if you’re feeling up to it biscuits and gravy.

Depends on where you are. We have a lot of regional food in America. You'll have people fighting about where the best BBQ is 😂

Really depends on which area you're in (believe it or not, the continental US is a tad larger than even many natives here realize), but I immediately came here to respond to your question with the barbecue of, well, many areas here, even those not known for it; I do see at least one other (thanks Nolan!) sharing the same thing so I'm not the only one who thinks as such for once. I'll give it some thought, though most things unique to their respective regions are generally worth a try. At any rate, I appreciate you doing so, and hope you enjoy your time here!

In N Out is a must.

If you’re in an area where they grow apples, then I would suggest fresh pressed apple cider or apple cider donuts from a farm stand.

If you visit New England you have to try or white clam chowder, it's a must.

Depends what part of the country you’re in but if you’re near Boston try Kelly’s on Revere Beach. Best lobster rolls in New England which is really saying something

If you're after something regional and sweet: Huckleberry anything in Montana, Marionberry anything in Oregon. If you get as far into Oregon as the Willamette valley, they have a chain called Burgerville that a lot of them are fanatical about (with good reason). Highly recommend.

Dunno where you are but I have a few regional suggestions. - Fried chicken will taste slightly different depending on region, but Popeye’s has that southern twang to it. - if you’re on the east coast, then I highly suggest you find either a local sub shop or a Jersey Mike’s for an amazing tasting hero (sub sandwich). DO NOT GO TO SUBWAY. Their quality has dipped recently. - try some Italian-American dishes while you’re there or in the St. Louis area (for a recommended chain, Pasta House is decent and has an amazing house salad) - I really do prefer St. Louis style pizza since I grew up on it (thin crust, sweet marinara sauce, provel cheese) - Tex Mex from the region it’s named after is a must have too. It might be hotter than expected though 😅 - I saw someone else suggest too, but if you want the best American breakfast ever for a decent price, then Waffle House is your place. They are open 24 hours, so just make sure you show up in daylight

Not sure where you are, but a couple of regional suggestions if you hapoen to be in any if them: St Louis: toasted ravioli and gooey butter cake. Cincinnati: chili and spaghetti from Skyline or Gold Star New Orleans: everything. Just eat whatever you want, it's all good. But def grab beignets at Cafe du Monde.

Any sort of seafood in New Orleans is a good bet, Carolina BBQ is in my opinion the best, ribs are best in Kansas City. If you're in Illinois or Chicago, deep dish pizza, Chicago style, hot dog, and Italian beef sandwiches dipped. The dip is the important part in that equation. Also in Illinois, Blue Moon ice cream.

I don't know what the hell you're holding, but that is not a cultural food.
