Nas and DJ Premier’s “Light-Years” is finally dropping this Friday… and with that hitting the same moment we’ve got new Czarface heat on the horizon, it really puts everything into perspective.

People love to say “forget the 90s” or act like the foundation is outdated. But the truth is simple: a real, well-oiled genre never dies. The styles built on skill, grit, and craftsmanship outlive every trend. Only the weak in-between genres die quick, the ones that pop for a moment, get hype, then vanish because they were never built to last.

Premier already showed with Ransom that boom bap can still break ribs in 2025. And 7L with the Czar-Keys is carrying some of the best, if not the best hip hop production today. That’s the type of music that doesn’t fade. It evolves but never loses its spine.
