How often do you read fiction? (for fun- not a school assignment!)

Used to all the time. The older I get the harder it is to focus.

Cant really get into too much fiction, not cause of lack of will, theres just too much nonfiction higher on my to read list and my time for reading is limited

I make a habit of spending at least one day a week offline - reading fills that time nicely. Currently I’m working through the Honor Harrington series.

@DatBrasss

I go in cycles where I will read fiction every free moment for weeks or months, then go months without picking up a fiction book.

Quite often, just finished The Infinite and The Divine, very highly recommended

It’s about an even split between fiction and nonfiction for me. Maybe slightly more nonfiction, but that varies throughout the years

Master and Commander, closest you’ll get to bring on the fence of non-fiction and fiction (Not including “If I did it”)

I used to be a big reader as a kid, especially with fiction, but it's been so hard to fet myself to read nowadays, and it makes me sad. I hope I can actually get back into it. Might help me write my own book better too😅

I got quite interested in Tolkien recently. This summer I read through Children of Húrin as well as Beren and Lúthien, and I'll definitely read more eventually.

I try to flip between historical and fiction every book. Unless I get into a series, I may read a few in that series. Im planning on getting your book this winter!

@Glogdome

I read almost exclusively fiction when I was younger, I remember my mother reading Eragon to me and that really got me going on fantasy. From there I enjoyed The Lord of the Rings, Conan The Barbarian, Solomon Kain, The Rangers Apprentice, The Dwarves, and others. Now I mostly read books about the history of cultures and countries or essay collections like Pensees, selected writings of John Stuart Mills that sort of thing. Edit: The last fiction book I read was Herod The Great by Zora Neal Hurston, released posthumously. The book 1632 has caught my interest but I haven't read it yet. I'm currently waiting on Around the world with General Grant to arrive at my library.

I pretty much only read nonfiction. Currently about 1/4 into Fire in the Sky by Eric Bergerud.

I am 77 and am currently working my way through the Discworld novels of Terry Pratchett. I usually have three or four fiction and one nonfiction book going at the same time.

I spend more time listening to fiction via audiobooks or fan narration at work than I read these days. But I still read a bit.
