MistareFusion

What do Goku's parents, Resurrection F, the Broli movie, and The Moro Arc all have in common? They all spring from ideas created in Toriyama Akira's series Jaco the Galactic Patrolman, which you can see at www.patreon.com/MistareFusion . This may not be Dragon Ball, per se, but it's required reading to understand ANYTHING going forward. More importantly, is it a good story in its own right or nothing more than a marketing gimmick? You can find out right now as a $10+ patron! Thanks so much for your support, and I hope you enjoy.

Jaco rules. That is all. A fun manga and a fun character

It's a good thing Galactic Patrol is closer to Nova Force than Green Lantern Core because Jaco would accidentally end up like Hal Jordan Parallax or something. xD

Something about modern dragon ball that I liked is how the characters have excuses to go back into space and how they meet new aliens. It really annoyed me that about the Frezia Saga that the story basically said outer space has nothing left to offer the heros and Earth is where all the action is now. That is why the Moro Arc is one of my favorite modern arcs in the series because it helps makes the universe ironically feel alive with life.

I enjoyed it. I just ignore DB Minus in the back off my copy.

You know, I generally really liked this story, a chance for Toriyama to bring back his comedy chops and stuff, but it always gets a little murky when reminded this had some sense of continuity in DB and that only makes me wonder why Bulma's "sister" never came up in conversation earlier or even remembering Jaco for Bulma when going to space. Then they just come back in Super and it's all like "Of course, I always knew they were a thing, I just decided to never even breathe a mention of them until after a bunch of various arcs where remembering could have been helpful."

I read through jaco around 2019-2020. I decided to read through it as a breather because at the time I was reading through all 38 volumes of the original Yu-Gi-Oh manga and i felt like I needed a break from that series after 14 straight volumes. Funnily enough, it was you, Mistare Fusion that got me to buy the single volume book after you said in passing that it was really good. Sadly, while I found the story to be incredibly charming, it just wasn't as funny to me as I was hoping. Of course, that is a me problem because comedy is subjective. I've barely watched dragon ball super (I've seen maybe 2 episodes in total so far and have read nothing of its manga counterpart) so I had barely any idea what exact kind of character jaco was. I had seen him in a few scenes from super here and there from YouTube and while you can quickly understand his whole personality very quickly, he was still a solid character that I wanted to keep reading about in his story just to see more of him.

@saiyajedi

So, will you also be covering the two Toriyama/Katsura joint works that laid the groundwork for Jaco…?
