Cole Hastings

We’re taught that we have to grind for success - to hustle until we are physically and mentally exhausted if we wanna get the results we deserve. But that can lead to an extreme sense of guilt and unnecessary stress when you do eventually start seeing success. In this second channel video, I explain why.

So wait ... Mr. Hastings, are you really concerned about the climate .... ? It's something that should not be ignored, but what gave you the urge to tackle the topic ?

Well maybe you are just constantly failing at trying to find meaning. It’s paradoxically the correct thing to always do. Hard to motivate to do something that isn’t meaningful, so you have to search for meaning first, and you get stuck. Scrolling, seeing cool things being done shows a glimpse of meaning of “wow that’s why it’s worth working towards something”, but it also devalues the act of working towards that thing because it’s already been done. People have migrated towards the idea of “be original”, then to “don’t try to be original, just be authentic” then to “being is inauthentic, so be nothing”. So we arrive at mindless scrolling, with defensive retorts to anyone who challenges your perceived ‘peak of consciousness’ ie. being objectively correct. Love your stuff Cole. I believe the next wave will be radical rule-aversion. And it might be the fourth turning. t. a zillenial who actually learned things and never used chatgpt
