Sir, coming from a background of " find what you want from scripture " and then start confessing has brought in the long run some frustrations due to unfulfilled expectations, especially without understanding this important angle you've tackled. If this isn't fully understood, many will fight the faith messages

Your willingness to hear from God what you may not like or fit into your own plan is what truly launches you into prophetic revelation.
Going to the cross wasn't what Jesus wanted, but that was the plan of God, and he, Jesus, was willing to yield. What we desire to happen may not necessarily be the outcome. In some other cases, the process of getting there will lead us through a route our flesh finds unpleasant.
He said those who will hear and discern right will be able to do so because they seek not their own will.
John 5:30
"I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me"
Remember the words of Peter the Apostle
2 Peter 1:19-21
19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost"
What interferes with prophetic insight from the scriptures on an issue is what we desire and want to happen.
This is why men fall into error while reading the scriptures. They come with preconceived ideas and are only looking for confirmation of their position and then call it a rhema!. The rhema many times can be a correction or reproof.
2 Timothy 3:16
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:"
