The Stitchery

Hey all! I'm planning to make a new (probably a little different, but basically the same in concept) version of the three garments pictured here:

-Hoodie dress, hack of McCalls 7349
-Comfy knit jumpsuit
-Pleated stripes illusion dress

Since re-making my designs isn't a super common practice for me, I thought I'd start by consulting you, my lovely viewers! Do you have any specific questions about the design or construction of these three garments that I could potentially answer for you (or just show more clearly) in the video? Let me know in the comments below, and I'll do my best to cover what I can once I get started!

Thanks all you lovely people!

I would like to see how you change the neckline on the dress to add a hood. And how you draft the hood to fit. And generally how you work out how to finish the neckline on a stretchy top without a pattern piece. Thanks ☺️

The one thing I hate most about jumpsuits as an adult is the need to take it all off to use the bathroom (especially when aunt flow visits). It was fun as a kid but not as an adult. Can you see about trying to make your jumpsuit work like a wrap pant/skirt style so it can be more bathroom friendly? Also, I love the palazzo style legs, but maybe consider your next one as a capri or bermuda length?

Hemming and getting curved seams to lay flat. Oh and lots of shenanigans! And of course puppy shots 🐶

I don't think I have any specific questions, as such, but I would like to see these made again in detail because I *really* want to make my own versions #ukwardrobetwin 😜

You picked my 3 favorite garments! I’d be interested in seeing a more cocktail/formal contrast of one, or all 3 of these designs. Another option is doing more of a corseted top half on the jumpsuit. I also vote for a quick side trip explanation/suggestion on how to make it plus size. I doubt my suggestions will do anything, but I’m still looking forward to seeing you remake all 3 designs!!!

Bishop sleeves break my brain, but I love the ones you put on the blue and grey hoodie dresses

I’d love to see how you approach the striped dress with a woven! And/or with a different striped motif than the one you’ve already done (thick tri-color)

All of these are so lovely and you absolutely rock, by the way! Specifically, I would love to hear your thoughts on constructing the illusion dress in a woven fabric, and also if it’s possible to alter it with a more fitted bodice? After I saw your awesome video, you inspired me to go thrift a fun striped bedsheet and I did your technique on the gathering but now I’m kind of stuck with how to make the bodice part work (thinking of just making it a skirt and more fitted top? I’m absolutely going to have to put a zipper in anyway.) It looks SO cool so far and I really would love to hear your thoughts before I take the plunge on the next step.

So glad I saw this pop up when it did! I just picked up the dress pattern at work tonight (Hobby Lobby, I'm in the fabric department wouldn't you know xD) and was thinking of trying a hoodie dress similar to yours but more like.. a hoodie "tunic" or like.. hoodie mini skirt? 😅 (Experimenting with things, actual dresses are kind of off the menu for me for a good while 😅) That would be a cool video to watch 💜 (or if you have a segment talking about how to trim down the original dress pattern into more of a hoodie skirt/tunic kinda like Link's from Legend of Zelda-- which now that I say that, I really want to make Link's tunic

Love them all, but the McCalls dress is my favorite! Maybe how you added pockets to it?

I've been trying to get my hands on some of that sweet sweet stripey stretch yumminess ever since you posted that 1st video, the pastels one. We don't have REMAINDERS down here in the land of wonder (iykyk 😉). It would seem that knitted stripey fabric is an anathema to the fabric merchants of my world... This one might have to be a "wait til I go on the bucket list trip" to get what is needed 🥴 We shall see,,, in the meantime, I shall have to live vicariously through your videos.☺️ 🙃

I literally have fabric on the way to make the pleated stripe fabric!!!.. but the fabric I have is woven and only has two different colours. I’d love to see how you would make it in that respect. I also planned on (intentionally) adding panels with the extra fabric on the side, with the side ties. Also if you could try making a shirt variant I would be super curious! I’ve been thinking about trying that as well. But mainly trying it with a 2-colour stripe.

I would like to see the process of you putting the pockets in the front side panels of the McCalls dress. I have a concept of it from previous videos, but watching you do it would save lots of trial and error. I have the pattern in my stash for this summer!

#3 was my absolute favorite!! I would live more info on how you made the channels for the ruching on the sleeves and how you laced up the back to cinch it in!

I love the McCall 7349 but I don't know how to make it plus size without ruining the shape. Love your dresses and creativity.

I love it when you draw your math on the whiteboard or on screen, I have absolutely no idea what’s going on otherwise! Also would be interesting to see what you considering when choosing what knit to use for what garment

@KerenBerkovitz

I love watching you redo the same patterns in different ways; it sparks all sorts of ideas. Consider me another vote for neckline assistance on 7349. Confession: When I tried to put the dress together, it fell apart at that spot. Also, I did end up making the pleated pinstripe and it came out great, but the pockets were nixed because of weight pulling. And of course, any pupper shots are welcome. TIA 😇

Modifying the length of the jumpsuit!!! I’m all plus size torso and short legs, I’ve never owned a jumpsuit that fit correctly and looked good and I’d love to make one but modifying the proportions seems a little scary!!!

I'd love to see you add a hood to the jumpsuit, and show how you get and mark/make your patterns more slowly please.
