I honestly don't understand the big hoopla around this reveal. A lot of people predicted that marvel will take this route with the team. But I honestly don't think this team will last post secret wars as Doom might kill them all especially sentry. It's been heavily speculated that feige might reboot the MCU after secret wars and focus mainly on the X-Men after that.

Personally I don’t think it was a big surprise, they’ve been advertising that asterisk since day and highlighting it. Even before I seen the movie I thought they were going to go with Dark Avengers, but this made sense. Plus they had this planned in the marketing beforehand.

Tbh it’s been pretty obvious what was going to happen since the movie got announced. Even if it isn’t literally “Dark-Avengers” it’s still the same difference. I think Marvel also knew that the fans speculation would be on point.

How long did they wait to talk about DP&W's spoilers? A week? Personally I don't don't think this one is as big a deal, so I don't care that they're revealing it earlier. I at least hoped they would add one more heavy hitter aside from Sentry so that they can seriously claim the title 😂

Ever since asterisk was by Thunderbolts definitely thought they were going to go with Dark Avengers name. Could put Baron Zemo, X23, and other anti heroes onto roster. Just put name The New Avengers at end of movie credits. On streaming going to be Thunderbolts or this?

I'm so glad I saw this in theaters opening weekend before this was spoiled. The movie theaters websites have even replaced the Thunderbolts* posters with New Avengers posters.

i think it’s a smart marketing move. in todays social media landscape things are just spoiled and the new title was spoiled days before the movie released so after the mcu die hards go opening weekend and experience the surprise then you change up your marketing and include the new title to get your more general audience to come in because the general audience doesn’t know the thunderbolts but they do know about the avengers. smart marketing pivot on marvels part which i’m sure was always the plan. i think waiting almost a month to reveal would have been a mistake just because of how packed the summer movie season is and also thunderbolts* now *the new avengers will probably make a majority of its money in the first 2 weeks of release.

I heard they already made there money back or made back more than the budget they used for the movie already, I’m assuming they are just trying to see if they can profit off it more by revealing the New Avengers name

Like they waited a month or 2 before promotions with tobey and andrew

I’d guess they’re worried about a big second weekend decline and they’re hoping this reveal will entice the normies to go see a movie with a familiar label.

I don’t think it’s that big of a deal, tbh they’ve already been marketing that asterisk for months now, and we all knew that the title was gonna change, and I think it’s a smart marketing move because Avengers is a big name and it puts butts in seats, I think it’ll help this movie gain more money, the marketing has been fantastic, amazing word of mouth, even promotion from some of the actors from Marvel like RDJ, Chris, Tatum and etc. that will also help, now all marvel needs is to promote the movie with the new title, my guess on what the end of the box office run could be for this movie is $600, $700 maybe $800 million but I’d say somewhere around $700 million that’s my prediction

RDJ kinda spoiled it big time on his Instagram post earlier before he edited it, he had a big following there so I guess its just their cue atp

Thoughts? It's a joke. MCU New Avengers is like a Tyrannosaurus Rex teaming up with a couple of mice. Hopefully they add other powerful team members besides just Sentry. They did hint at conflict with New Cap so well see if leads to a Civil War 2.

It's not that serious, it's not even really about it being a marketing scheme, it's more about something to just have fun with. Now if they did it before the movie released that would have been stupid, but since they did it with the opening week some people have seen it and it's still relevant to talk about it instead of 3 weeks from now when most already know about it. At least now, instead of people saying "thunderbolts? That sounds stupid." They can now say "the thunderbolts is actually the new avengers movie, we should watch it cause the avengers movies are good."

COMICS PLUS! by Akasan
Ok…. I guess Marvel just doesn’t care. I tried to ignore and not report on it but it’s EVERYWHERE. Billboards and all.
Really wondering the move behind this one. I felt like the opening weekend was good enough to just let word of mouth get the general audience in.
Or was the reveal not a big surprise?
Thoughts?
