@Shuubyg

Thanks for the Q&A Evan and Stefan! My question: if someone haven’t given an interview in a long time. There’s this urge to start from absolute scratch: brush up for favorite language (eg. python) —> brush up DSA —> follow a roadmap (like Neetcode 150, blind 75, grokking the coding interview) —> start system design from scratch with hello interview, Alex Yu books, grokking the system design —> prep for behavioral. So there’s this urge to do all of this together and we end up not able to prioritize better given there’s a prep time of only a few months. What will be your advice if someone is starting the prep from scratch and what should they focus on first instead of trying to do everything all and once and fail miserably.

What advice would you give to a 13 yoe engineer who's stuck at Senior roles from the past 6 years in different companies who would like to move to either Staff or Manager role ? How to choose projects that can help in getting promotion to Staff ?

I even bought the premium subscription recently for a design interview with Google and I am glad to report that I could clear it 😁 All thanks to your content!! The guided practice which you have incorporated is an absolute game changer! Keep posting more awesome content like this 😁 Once again thanks a lot to both of you

Do the system design questions repeat everywhere or it may happen sometimes we get a completely new unseen question in the interview ? Also , Big big Thanks to you two . This is the best system design channel to exist on youtube. There are no other channels as structured as this one which actually prepares someone for the interview. You are absolute gold. Thank you

Right now the job market is really bleak. How do we stay motivated to learn and prepare during the down time when no interview opportunities are lined up so that when the right opportunity comes by we will be in our prime condition for interviews?

@shawnonpiano

Thanks for having this Q&A session! My question is how necessary the back-of-the-envelope calculations are, as we have to memorize a ton of numbers for them. In other words, will that affect my score a lot if I don't do that even in the deep dives?

What advice for someone who has 6 years experience working for government contracts, but trying to break into big tech? My job deals with many similar tech stack but at a very small scale. I get rejection from senior job posts. Is this a losing battle? Should I look at other companies? Or can I apply to mid level jobs? Any suggestions?
